  1. 560xp, having used a heated saw, I would say if you're ringing up, heated handles is a must in winter, if you're mostly felling, I wouldn't bother as you'll soon get a sweat on
  2. Oh the software is available, if it has the same plug as the husky auto tune, then it's effectively a 576 reset. If not, it's £350
  3. Fertiliser doesn't fix everything ted, especially if the trees have mycorrhizal fungi. Trees also tend to get a bit addicted. Also he has hacked them back, application of potassium and phosphates won't fix the lack of flowering buds, nitrates may help, but he will be hacking it back again. Patience, it'll be yielding plenty of fruit again soon, it just needs to grow those buds first.
  4. The C stands for comfort, not quite sure what constitutes that suffix, it's the M that indicates the self-tuning carb, there was a C version prior to the m-tronic version

    How to check rpm

Yeah, try importing to the uk, they'd whack on an extra 100% for postage, 'handling fees' and import tax. I priced them up at the local dealer and it came out at more than importing!
  6. You only have 5-10 mins to edit a post. Were you on the pop by any chance last night Richard?
  7. Thank god! I hated the trumpet type

    My new 200t

Prime candidate for a muffler mod if you're running 16", also worth running picco super chain
  9. Because after the APF they're trying to launch the 201t m-tronic and 661, be interesting if husky will have the 572 there
  10. I was going to suggest that, but I thought it would be a bit harsh for the first post whilst I was chatting to him
  11. I believe I may have used one of those the other day also, when you make a tracked version of the 230 will it have a fold down (out?) hopper or the trumpet kind like that jenson in the picture and the 150vtr I used?
  12. That's a clever little trailer, was it designed for chippers or something else? Don't like your Jensen's feed chute!
  13. Now you need a 36", wrap handle, big dawgs, the saw porting and muffler modding and a bigger carb! Watch it fly

    076

I personally use .404 too, it makes more sense as the big old torque saws are designed to pull the trees down Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    How to check rpm

The tiny tach is by far the cheapest in the range of inductive tachometers, there's another few American tachs which are priced up to about £150... And then there's the DET/PET series of tachometers, which are what Stihl, husqvarna, echo and dolmar say to use... Prices start from £200! Although they measure up to 30k rpm, so should you have a mcculloch kart saw, you can tach it Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  16. His is an x-torq, I've just modded my 362 with a 375k cylinder, intake boot and arm off the 385xp, along with its carb (ported my 385 and fitted the x-torq carb on that so it was spare) Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  17. It doesn't take 5 minutes to change the wire! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

    How to check rpm

You're a brave man, clutch issues aside, different bar lengths affect the saw differently - a longer bar requires a leaner mix to reach the correct rpm. A shorter bar requires a richer mix, so if you have a longer bar already, you could toast the top end, so £70 vs £300 for a new p&c, I know where my money went. If you tuned it to 13k rpm with no bar, you could find sticking a bar would drop it down below 12k rpm, coking the exhaust, piston crown and cylinder head quite quickly (you're not creating enough heat to burn off the oil significantly, instead, it welds itself to the insides). It'll run sluggish and down on power to boot! Another question is how you operate the throttle, adjust the carb AND hold the tach in place all at the same time considering each is on a different side. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  19. This is how the linkage should look at the carb end Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  21. Helium in the tyres, it was already discussed He did say they've recently invested in a new design software... Thing about modern technology, it wasn't available 6 months prior to when you get it, let alone a few years ago, you only need look at some saws for that to be obvious Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  22. quite possibly Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. 1. There are no significant differences, in fact there may be no difference past the letter A or C 2. Yes 3. It was fitted to your saw, the C model was the last 'version' of that carb fitted to that saw, Stihl IPL's only show the most modern carb (or a significant variant) for a saw. The 051 had 4 different carbs, the Stihl contra/070/090 has had over 10 different variations of carbs, the only difference has been the high/low adjustment screw location, and then a plastic thing placed around them Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. It's all on rob d's site Just search for a 36" bar for a 395xp (the mount is the same) http://www.chainsawbars.co.uk Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. I'll put a pic up for you in a few days time (hopefully) of how the linkage should be routed, as I'm modding my 362xp, so I will be setting up the same linkage Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
