  1. Afternoon, I am looking for planting gang for a project in the Bury St Edmunds area planned for this season. 7500 bare root in 0.6m shelters with 0.9 stakes. Ideally would like someone with spraying tickets to carry out maintenance for 3 years and carry out 1st and 2nd year beat-up Please call 07595290954 rather than PM. Cheers Nick
  2. The site is a slight slope then ride then steep drop off to a small stream below. The rhody isn’t big max 8-10inch but a lot off smaller material you just won’t get a tractor too or drive between medium to large maidens.
  3. Evening all, Rhodi bashing with 13ton 360 with mulcher what sort of area should it tackle on an average day. Some dence areas amongst birch regen and some bank work with minimal coverage hence the average. Thanks Nick
  4. It might do it might not couldn’t be arsed to have that argument as they’ve advised it shouldnt be done.
  5. More than likely always is but in a new saw don’t want to cause warranty issues.
  6. That was my plan as getting pissed at waiting on the 2 stroke but the dealer checked with husky technical and they strongly advise not doing this. Apparently there fuel is completely different to aspen and adding 2t oil to it won’t work. How true this is I don’t know.
  7. Should get mine in day or two had it on hold at dealer for few weeks. Want to run it only on the new husky 2 stroke fuel which should be in by Wednesday this week. Was told next batch will be around mid March to all dealers.
  8. As per title: Position available for a harvester/forwarder operator based in south east but do travel/stay away. Ideally looking for someone with good experience and looks after the machines. Rates depending on experience. Call Nick 07595290954
  9. Did some big pops last summer heavy back lean pulled over with forwarder massive hinge no splits. Wouldn’t worry to much about splitting low value timber. Think you will find they only getting chip price as export market dropped off for the last 8-12 months, even so cut them as long as possible up to 40ft or just over in case markets change. I’m

  17. Evening all, currently cutting beech block up to 800ton processor size and a block of birch 150-200ton. Both cut to 2.5-2.7m lengths, artic access, can load onto flat. Call or text 07595290954 if interested. Cheer nick
  18. We work with the prices available but the problem we have is buyers think that machines can produce more so rates don't need to rise with fuel etc and expect a high standard of job. I'm happy with the rates I work for but was making a point.
  19. The thing your all missing is there are too many middle men involved taking there cut!! Hardwood is where they make a large portion of there money! As a harvesting contractor I get approx the same rate per ton as they were getting 20yrs ago and costs have gone through the roof since then. Yes machines are more productive but a new harvester now is £300k plus, a reliable used is £200k plus yet rates don't rise with inflation. Land owners and the middle man are reaping the rewards of the price roadside. I understand why people import but seriously dissagee with it and what lies behind it! I know a big firewood seller in Kent who has a kiln not to increase his price but to reduce his cash outlay and improve cash flow. Normal year £35k for wood year to dry min then sale. Now wood comes in 7 days later it's ready for sale. Cash flowing nicely!
  20. Surely you asked Steve who I know and is a straight up bloke how long it's been cut for? The biggest problem we have is hauliers go in and help themselves if they know the product is there even if sold to another! It's not always the agents fault. If you weren't happy why not turn the load away rather than moaning on here trying to slate someone. Pointless thread.
  21. Evening all, Anyone know of a good lowloader around Hereford? Cheers
  22. There is another solution, if they pay only by weight then Fc should give grants for weigh links of all forwarders!! The new systems I've been looking at are accurate to +-1% of actual weight, all products can be weighed separate and downloaded onto a memory stick to be sent onto contract firm. If this system was recognised then we could all invoice for 90% of weight weekly the timber lorries would know exactly how much is there to be moved and there's still enough to account for any discrepancies so you don't over invoice. Simple simple simples.
  23. Agent wants a burn so that what we will do. Think they planning to try and plant before end of February.
