They needed it......sounded powerful and fast when going....but had no pull power.

Not sure about that (55 plate navara) struggled to tow a laden transit full of chip 15 miles after it broke down......where as my mates landy 130 towed a ifor trailer with my ford 4000 with loader, 25 miles up hill and down back to my yard no probs!!

Not that jammy yet, but cheers I was well chuffed when he fetched them out, popped back on the way home after the last delivery of logs with a bottle of red and white for his wife and a pack of Guinness for him.

Plug colour looks o.k....light brownish and my first thought was breather so I ran them with the filler cap loose and then undone.

Cheers GTR, will try what you suggested. Carbs have been stripped an cleaned by my own loving hands? haven't got a compression tester,but they both have a strong feel on slow pull over on the cord. It just seems to feel like a fuel problem? will rinse tanks out, blow pipe back from carb to tank and give it a whirl.

Hi, all just been given an old stihl 044 and 024 wood boss by a good log customer of mine. Trouble is they both run like there under-powered have done a carb diaphragm kit on both and re-tuned to factory settings but they don't want to rev out to top note!!! and bog out in wood when cutting. any chance it could be the filters in the tank, would it be safe enough to take the filters off and test without or is it more than likely to drag muck into the carb? thanks in advance Matt.
