  1. i agree, it's in full bloom at the moment and it looks stunning, i've wondered exactly what it was for years as it was near my place of work. we were taking a cat to the vet which was opposite and took my chance to grab a twig.

i bet that ball would disagree...
  3. hi all, i presume this is actually a horse chestnut (please correct me if i'm wrong) but i don't know of a species with pointy leaves. .
  4. that's luck to be honest. i happened to be watching a BBC2 program about decay with George Mcgavin and obviously fungi were very well featured at one stage and this happened to be one of them they spoke about.
  5. i'm guessing that it's that yellow slime mould. supposed to be the largest single cell on earth...
  6. tell them to turn it in to a gravel drive and then when the roots get bigger tell them to rake it flat...
  7. my thoughts exactly. nice furniture patrick.
  8. volume has got nothing to do with it... when the sap has risen it will undoubtedly be heavier but there must be so many variables that could change the percentage is there any point trying to work it out.
  9. delabodge might be interested in the welly?
  10. thats a eucalyptus, they are supposed to look like that. looks nice and healthy to me.
  11. use timber that was winter felled.
  12. i'd rather they be used than take up space in my rack gathering dust mate. i want to see some work asap of your first turnings whatever they be...
  13. tell them to fell the bungalow...
  14. what do you mean when you say they fade?
  15. no... the wood is just a by product from felling the tree.
  16. someone has just put these on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Welsh-Cedar-Shingles-30m2-150mm-x-500mm-x-10mm-Bulk-Discount-450-/111686385128?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1a0106fde8
  17. well pick a time and just come round. this saturday is ok by me.
  18. well that's educated me, i didn't know they lived that long...
  19. what sort of price is one like the one in the video then?
  20. i know you wouldn't be able to buy s beast like that jon. i was just posting a whopper, not having the knowledge to help you i'll refrain from posting any more. don't you fancy making your own like the cross sawmill guy?
  21. not 100% sure but i think walnuts get to be about 120-150years old. i reckon at nearly 150 it's just getting old. do not let the timber go to waste when it snuffs it.
  22. it'll do the job but make sure you don't burn the metal on older tools. modern HSS are ok but you need a slow grinder really. i could do with clearing out my tool rack if you want some freebies. no bowl gouges but you can have some scrapers, spindle gouges and a skew.
  23. how many M3 are there?
  24. i wasn't after iot for turning, i've got too much for that but i know that these exotics usually make better firewood so was asking how much? so how much?
