  1. Some big fish you got up there! I've heard pike are great to fish for! Nothing beats a bit of solitary fishing away from it all and supper only a cast away!
  2. Anyone going Kayak-fishing on this sunny Bank Holiday weekend? Looks set to be a great day to get out on the water at Sennen Cove. Let's see if the Bass and Pollack have returned from their overwintering ground where ever that is! Anyone know of good fishing marks around Lands-end?
  3. I only completed my tickets (cs 38, 39, 40) two years ago and have been working with a big utility company for a year now. The big challenge/frustration for me, as third climber, is to get quicker when I'm getting so little climbing/pruning experience(once a month if I'm lucky!). It's a catch-22. So I do as much private tree work as comes my way to gain experience.
  4. And take the appropriate action immediately! Don't wait!!
  5. I've got to do this...it's Friday for Christs sakes...TFI Friday and all that...assuming you haven't got to work tomorrow as I don't have to this weekend! If in doubt, always check your nuts! Seriously, whether its testicular cancer or your work vehicle wheels, if in doubt check your nuts, carefully....! You may only get one chance. As a professional driver I've stupidly ignored loose wheel nuts, hand tightened them and continued my journey!

    Fs400

I should add that my FS 400 throttle works normally for up to 1/2 hr before it starts to choke up slightly. I'm guessing this is a fuel blockage or carb issue? If the engine starts to die on me I simply let go the throttle to tickover and then ease it back up again. Gives me a break while i wait!

    Fs400

Thanks Maico. I've done what you said and the engine now runs Ok(My mower broke so I had to strim nearly an acre of garden yesterday!) . The only odd thing is that when I fully open the throttle the engine dies so I only squeeze the throttle half way.

    Fs400

HI Spud, I'd like to make some carb adjustments but only have an LD setting on my STIHL FS 400!
  9. I have a similar issue with my 2007 200T only difference is that when I tilt the saw at full revs the engine dies!
  10. Thanks, I'll give it a go and see what happens!
  11. Not sure if this is the right forum(i am at least a tree-surgeon taking time out to attempt to cut our lawn!)? Any mower experts out there can shed some light on my Victa mower hiss/power loss I'd appreciate it - great mowers but don't want to buy another just yet.
  12. With regards to Victa mowers, if I can just slightly hijack this thread in search of a mower expert!? My Victa Master mulcher has been running great these last few years but this spring when it eventually starts it hisses and cuts out after running into long grass but struggles to re-start - exhaust blowing or main head gasket I don't know!? Can nyone out there shed their expertise on possible running issues. I love Victas so much, but I don't really want to buy another one!
  13. Cheers for the know how guys:001_smile: I'll be testing those theories dreckly!
  14. There is another possiblity...the fuel pickup is floating at the top of the tank! At least I hope this is the cause/problem. I've jammed it back down into the bottom of the tank. I'll give it a 1/2 hour full fuel tank run and see if it was that simple!
  15. Cheers guys. I'll try that before I have to bite the STIHL Dealer bullet!
  16. How easy to access it and clean/clear?
  17. What is a tank breather? Do you meant the in tank fuel/filter pickup? Maybe I should check a 200T diagram.
  18. Hi, can anyone of you mechanically minded guys suggest a possible cause/causes for my 200T running for only ten minutes at a time? Its very frustrating starting a job up a tree only to have it cut out and not re-start. I was thinking poss a fuel blockage but surely it wouldn't run so long before....? I like to try and cure problems myself if I can before I pay out! Anyone experienced similar? Thanks in advance.
  19. Thanks! I'll do all that. What you say chimes with the mechanic anyway.
  20. £800 for fitting a recon gearbox and a further £200 if the clutch needs doing as well. Might as well do both at the same time (if need be) as a clutch replacement would cost £400 on its own!
  21. That's it. I remember now. I've been gripping the gear lever too tight. Should've been more gentle. These rugged commercial trucks need wrapping in cotton wool to protect them from gorillas like me!
  22. Good point. But hasn't it got a Mazda engine/gearbox so does that still apply? Apparently not!
  23. My 2004 Ford Ranger (80,000 miles) has just been diagnosed with gearbox failure - agh! What did I do wrong in driving it normally? Has anyone had a similar thing happen and what was the solution? Buy a Hilux someone will say but who can afford that? Lease it then...? I've been quoted £1000 if the clutch needs doing at the same time! Luckily I've got a few jobs lined which should just cover the costs.
  24. My 2004 Ford ranger double cab has run well every day since I bought two years ago. And great for towing a chipper and chip-box full of chippings!
  25. I've compared my XP 560 to a workmates and his choke lever is linked as I have described (m:thumbup1:aybe it never worked from new?!). Have a look under the engine cover at the throttle cable action when the choke is on.
