  1. I googled this out of interest, can't say below is accurate... Lawful and Legal are 2 totally different things. Lawful/Law is Common Law (some call it Gods Law). The primary principle being one should not cause Lose, Harm or Injury. Acts/Statutes are created by Parliament or local authorities, they however ARE NOT law. Acts and Statues Or this link http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/lawful
  2. Yes there's obviously an incentive to exaggerate losses if a compen scheme in place.
  3. Like the thinking above RJ/M Not so good re hand K, hope heals quickly... And didn't get infected during the incident
  4. As a contractor I broke my leg badly on an FC site years ago, the forester we had in those days was a real bash on get the timber to the roadside kind of chap.. Kind of person that is badly missed these days. Anyway first thing he said was "don't tell the f@cking hospital what really happened or we'll all be up to eyes in paperwork and reports" !
  5. I assumed he was helping neighbour in expectation that neighbour would return help in due course. Like it used to be before a multitude of regs
  6. Would you really? If it's two owner occupiers working together then most of above doesn't apply
  7. Splitting force is weakened and more likely to get "splinters". What splitting force is the ram?
  8. I didn't really read it in detail but I would say lambs seem to be a high percentage of identifiable prey. Of course it depends who was doing the counting also, was it a SNH study? Bear in mind it was a trial too, if they roll out cameras to more nests then they will obviously get more data. "A camera study set up in the Lorn area of Argyll to determine what the eagles were eating found that the birds brought eight or nine lambs back to the nest, and just seven fish. Nearly 7,000 images were taken of the nest during the breeding season earlier this year using motion sensitive cameras. The study, carried out under a Scottish Natural Heritage licence, recorded 117 prey items being taken to the nest between January and July, nearly 70 of which were unidentifiable. A total of 21 mammals were identified, as well as 14 birds, seven fish and a number of lambs."

  10. I'm genuinely interested - why are you so concerned with what someone else is doing? Is it impacting on you or, and I mean no offence, are you just being a busybody?
  11. Why does it matter?
  12. Here's the fatty involved in the original judgement speaking out: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/dietandfitness/11302442/I-dont-feel-my-weight-is-a-big-problem-says-Dane-in-EU-obesity-ruling.html
  13. Whatever the ins and out of being a fatty and how you ended up that way it would seem this is another tranche of legislation to be adhered to by businesses with, of course, additional cost. Head groundsman - I'm impressed by your dedication to keeping at the job and living life to the full after such a severe injury. Good luck for the future .. Nice picture Mull!
  14. Funny how everyone who works for themselves has the same opinion. Of more importance what's happened to my signature with the Margaret Thatcher quote, that's not offensive!
  15. We don't use Clarks bio oil but the oil we do use is so thick just now in cold weather it won't work in gravity fed processor. So today I bought 40litres rapeseed to pour into drum to thin it out a bit, cheaper too at 85ppl
  16. Just read your link Kevin, how can there be over 11m registered disabled in the UK? that's 1 in 6 of the population! As for 5.7m working age adults registered disabled, where are all these people? Also noticed this wee gem *Working Age: men aged 16-64 and women aged 16-59 **State Pension Age: men aged 65 and over and women aged 60 and over I'm very much for sexual equality and believe most women don't get paid the same as they simply don't ask for more cash at appraisals etc, (my sample is admittedly small - 2 ex girlfriends) however I found their attitude interesting. Anyway it looks like they get to knock off work 5 years earlier too!
  17. Bollocks I'm talking about the people with a crime sheet theft/vandalism/violence going back since they're old enough to walk. We all know them
  18. Another piece from the Torygraph, seems to have basis in fact though. EU court rules that fatness 'can constitute a disability’ - Telegraph
  19. I always wonder why we, people as a whole or "society", have to tolerate people like that. They make it quite clear by their actions that they wish to live by a different set of rules, wouldn't it really be simpler all round if we just hung him and his likes? Solves a particular ongoing issue and sends a clear signal to any wannabes that such behaviour will not be tolerated. I think the Middle East, Singapore etc have it just right
  20. Lovely idea in theory but utterly impractical in the UK. And I'll reiterate yet again that the UK is absolutely beyond skint so why it's even suggested is beyond me, sounds like someone's trying to create some more nonjobs!
  21. You just need to get in mindset that it's not your money plus always think of costs/revenue as ex VAT price. Anyway, point of thread wasn't the rights and wrongs of vat thresholds, it was regarding way it was being implemented. If Labour, for example, put this proposal in their manifesto then you would have chance to vote for them (or not), thus if it was implemented then it would by democratic mandate. There would also be the opportunity to speak directly to the instigating party MP regarding proposal.
  22. Sawlogs for milling, pallet, pulp (for paper), chip
  23. When we did heli logging years ago the chopper flew out over Loch Lomond, it wasn't unknown for the poles to bang together and release the chokers so logs fell into the loch. They were full length trees (sned out) and they disappeared out of sight, god knows how deep they went but they came back out the water like a Polaris missile being launched. The chopper just used to fly round any boat traffic he spotted, wouldn't get away with that now!
  24. Good to hear they're the business. Noticed the heavy fins out back of lights so guessed they're going get hot!
  25. Fair point but VAT registration is fairly onerous for a new start business. I just don't like bureaucracy! Edit - I should say I am vat reg'd
