  1. The minority should be over represented according to your own logic - or do you choose to apply it selectively? Is the hypocrisy starting to dawn on you yet?
  2. Shocker.... A difference of opinion is not something that should be suppressed, it should be explored. Like BLM for example? They don't matter any more (or any less) than anyone else. That's pretty much where I am - equally, without fear or favour based upon the character rather than the colour. Quite, so everyone needs to get over it and stop crying. What sort of drivel is that? Is there even a question in there? The article I posted reveals that there is an unequal, over representation of notable minority sectors in society and that should - by your own apparent logic - be recognised and rectified. We can at least agree on that.... Can we also agree that the potential 'solutions' should actually be irrespective of, rather than governed by, association to any particular identifiable group? I think you might have missed the point as you took a running jump for the bandwagon.... The report identifies an unjustifiable over representation of 'group(s)' within the broader society. That is unjustifiably discriminatory - go figure ?
  3. I would contend that it is a problem, yes, since it is an deliberate misrepresentation of reality based upon a social ideology propagated by unregulated political agenda. I prefer the words of Martin Luther King Jr: "...I look to a day when people will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character..." By your own logic then, where BAME are at or above the majority, it there should be a dominance of non BAME representation in the media - you see how your own logic starts to fall apart? See above... I'd suggest "artificially" raising the profile of any minority group simply on the basis that they cling to a minority group identity is inappropriate. It results in the promotion beyond capability / suitability of candidates that may not be the best equipped for any particular role simply on the basis of their ethnicity - the antithesis of MLK's 'dream.' To the exclusion of others? Mmm. Are you subscribing to racial / ethnic stereotypes? Are you a LA employee Stu? Your post looks like it could have come straight out of a woke corporate HR manual....
  4. ? The sort of question you never want to be asked, but would never decline. Id just felled a large tree when my mates dad asked if he could “have a quick word” How unprepared was I for the question that followed..... Would I carry the coffin he expected to be in within a couple of weeks. Totally floored me. Think of it as an immeasurable honour and privilege to have been thought so highly of to have been asked.
  5. Interesting..... It seems to have become even more prevalent of late. Over the last couple of days I’d actually started watching TV ads - not out of interest in the products - but rather to assess ‘diversity’ of representation. Try it and see what conclusions you draw. There is a noticeable imbalance when comparing BAME representation in TV advertising to that which I see all around me. On the one hand, it is apparent that it is very rare to see a TV advert WITHOUT BAME representation, but my lived experience is that I could literally go weeks / months without actually seeing any. If Breitbart is unpalatable, it’s also in the Times and featured on BBC Politics Live - just for balance. The figures are clear enough, there is an OVER representation of certain groups in relation to national demographic. Study: Gays, Ethnic Minorities Hugely Overrepresented in UK Television WWW.BREITBART.COM A survey of the TV industry found that, contrary to popular belief among "woke" commentators, gays and minorities are...
  6. Same way you’d approach any blatantly illogical nonsense?
  7. Not sure how you’ve done that ? You’ve assigned Rob’s words as a quote by me? ?
  8. It’s a classic, perhaps well intentioned but blatantly poorly considered, sadly typical, public sector over reaction which seeks to impose restrictions without full and considered appreciation of the implications. Logic would dictate that if 1 child is confirmed, the ‘bubble’ should isolate until tested, test results positive equals full isolation schedule, test result negative equals back to school. 48-72 hrs whilst awaiting test results not 2 weeks lost education and family disruption.
  9. Doesn’t matter! Got a template that was filled in 37 months ago - ergo - INDESTRUCTIBLE ??
  10. And therein lies the greatest weakness of tick-box mentality - seeking out and blindly following a generic ‘template’ in the misguided belief that it provides some form of compliance / protection / good practice rather than actually, properly assessing the task specific hazards, and taking measures to mitigate them, is a journey in the fast lane to nugatory effort.
  11. ‘Kin ‘ell mate, been holding my breath for an hour, not sure how much longer I can hold out....
  12. I’m on side mate, have been from the outset, the masses have been fed ‘stats’ that simply don’t stand up to scrutiny. Whilst I totally understand, and empathise, with those that want to adopt (what I consider to be) excessively oppressive, restrictive precautions, my personal view is that the medicine, in this (C19) case, is worst that the disease.
  13. Seriously?
  14. You beat me to it! SS Great Britain, Isambard Kingdom Brunel's steamship WWW.HISTORIC-UK.COM A recent popular poll placed Isambard Kingdom Brunel as the second Greatest Briton of all time. He was without doubt... If you read all of that article Egger, right to the end, there is 1 piece of legendary history missing from the tale they tell....
  15. Yeah, well, what a disappointment Sunak’s speech to the Tory conference was. Rather than ‘pressing the restart button’ as he boldly claimed, all he actually proposed was a continuation of the existing flawed, Ponzi scheme of borrow, build houses and lend money to help pay for them in order to continue the misguided concept of relying upon GDP as a measure of economic success. Deeply disillusioned of Cornwall....
  16. And St Petersburg! Beautiful girls too!
  17. If there’s a cavity big enough for owls it may be well over due a credible assessment of ‘risk’ (and consequence). There maybe the option of retaining standing stem which could provide future habitat / diversity value and potentially prolong retention options where it sounds like you’d ‘miss’ the tree. If it is Merip affecting the roots though, some care in taking advice should be exercised. Some people are expert at removing trees, others may be expert at providing credible retention options - the 2 groups don’t always meet in the middle!
  18. Never mind the discount - as keen as I normally am for a bargain - who in their right mind would name a Chinese restaurant that and even worse, who would ever contemplate eating there? All joking aside, what a state we’ve allowed ourselves to get into viz a viz PRC. Abhorrent human and animal rights, corruption, oppression, aggression and yet the dependence continues. We want an answer to Covid? Why is nobody even suggesting an immediate travel and trade ban with PRC? The only world leader that appears to have even come close is Trump and he gets whole scale condemnation (some wholly appropriate and proportional I’ll agree) Without wishing to politicise the humour thread (well, not too much) maybe we should have a “C19 - how to fix / prevent” thread?
  19. That really IS funny ?
  20. Birmingham city council are sending staff out to deliver tests to ‘randomly’ selected streets by post code apparently.... 2 council workers, 1 RAF bod, a bus and driver. Saw it on YouTube (which makes me an ‘authority’ on the subject ?)
  21. Looks like the tree has had some hard knocks over the years.
  22. Is that a general statement egged or an intentional personal message.....? ? PS - what does ACAB stand for?
  23. Is it wrong that I consider that prospect to hold a certain appeal though J. ?
