I got hoofed off a LR FB page for posting a pic of a 110 in a lay-by with a recovery truck seen whilst travelling up the A38 to Exeterer to collect my new Hilux.... You’d think the miserable bastards would have had a sense of humour at least - they do drive LRs after all ?
-
That is my contender for post of the year (possibly even best post of all time - certainly in this category) The law does not specifically have to relate to a tree / Arb scenario in order to be applied to one..... ?

I’ve got the black splitter version for my multione. Don’t use it often but it’s there if I need it and since it simply bolts onto the rotator head it’s easily inter changeable with wire brush, riddling drum, auger etc. Main difference between mini loader / mini digger with a cone splitter, I’d say, is blade is really useful on mini digger as a ‘stop’ to prevent chunks from spinning. Not too tricky to get around with a bit of practice. https://www.exac-one.co.uk/black-splitter/

It was that GP. Not going though... Couldn't afford the time penalty of a potential quarantine on return, couldn't justify 'not essential' travel at the moment and not overly interested in GP. Under different circumstances I WOULD have jumped at the chance of some late sun, cold beer and hot chicks though. Prob best not start a new Brexit thread - not sure it would generate much interest - might be worth piggy-backing on a well established pre-existing one though:

Your written response very much mirrors the collective, coordinated sharp intake of TO breath which caused a noticeable vacuum in the room when Dr Mynors expressed a very similar view to that Jules has presented above during his lecture at Barcham Trees 4 or 5 years ago.

OK bud, all the Brexit stuff has been done to death in the plethora of previous Brexit threads so best not open that box again here - we’ll get banned or booed off the forum ? That said, I am genuinely interested to hear how you interpret the “Brexit effect” and how it has effected you / your area - just not in this thread. I had an invite for Portuguese Grand Prix which is just 10 mins away from my mates villa (I’m not a GP fan but would have suffered through if it wasn’t for C19)

Ah, are you a recent arrival at ArbTalk naturarbo?? If so, I may need to break some bad news.... My “complaining” about Brexit was heavily marinaded in irony. I remain and have always been very firmly in the pro Brexit camp.

Even the financial overlords can’t fail to see the Ponzi scheme can’t last for ever.

Rough times ahead Mark. The Rona may simply have accelerated the inevitable. Why the great minds of government (all sides) didn’t grasp the opportunity of ‘real’ change will, I think, come back to haunt us. The greatest opportunity for UBI has passed us by without any great notice or apparent interest from Westminster.

Prob’s K. Im a bit old fashioned (in many respects) but esp money. No doubt it’s held me back but I don’t want Bank (or Gov’t Covid) money. I DO want a tracked MEWP though and I’m well on the way to getting the dosh set aside to buy the bstard - if Brexit doesn’t bung a load extra on top (bloody Brexit!)

Been busier than a 3 legged cat trying to bury turds on a frozen lake. What happens when the redundancies kick in and the money dries up is a question for next year.

If you think professional tree work is expensive wait til you see the cost of an amateur!

Not that it’ll help in the slightest, but I’ve just had a bombshell which has seriously knocked my confidence in human intelligence. @maybelateron will know what I’m talking about since he very kindly went and had at look at it for me (it’s been a while but you may remember) Ive been meaning to do some tree work at in-laws but time rolls on (several years) and I haven’t been up there. Maybelateron, had a look, gave ‘em a quote and I was happy they’d have a pro job. Time rolled on again and I’ve just heard, everyone (including the wife who will feel my wrath later) have kept me in the dark about the work scheduled for next weekend. Father in law has found a ‘good lad up the road who’s got a mate that’ll climb the trees because the “good lad” (a ground worker - I mean digs holes on building sites not Arb groundwork) doesn’t like heights.’ They plan to pay cash and have the work done at the weekend. For the love of God, if even I can’t inform and influence my own (well, hers) family, what hope is there for Mrs Miggins. I can’t begin to describe how angry / frustrated / pi55ed off I am with them right now. PS whilst I doubt the ‘main man’ will be a subscriber here maybe the ‘climber mate’ might be - know this! If this goes ahead (despite my best efforts) I will be there at some point and if you’ve bulloxed it up I WILL find you and I WILL extract at least 2x the cash value gained in pain! (Watch ‘Taken’)

Theme all the same Egger, just some come with benefits ?

You, you dullard ? Mine was intentional to accentuate the humour!

Prob’s 10-15 year ago I was dating a girl from Kidderminster and spent fair bit of time up Brum. I well remember the city council street signs in certain areas “no whites after 21:00” Diversity and inclusivity at its very finest ?

Scarred for life you say? As you also said, try walking around one of his beloved multicultural ghettos at night and see what sort of scarring happens. But that would probably be ‘our’ fault for not being antifa enough....
-
They get paid very well for that...
-
It’s no drama Egger. Main contractor pays your tax and gives you a ‘voucher’ Its only what you’d pay at end of year anyway. Building game brought it on itself by having so many SE contractors not submitting adequate tax return. Wont cost you anything, just gets your bill paid up front rather than 31 Jan of the next year. (if you’re on top of yr paperwork it’s as well to get tax return in as early as poss anyway. My 31 Jan 21 is all done & dusted)

I tell you want AIN’T happening in Turkey..... They ain’t getting ready to come over ‘ere with their sisha pipes and kebab knives coz weme outta the EU shortly ???

It was entirely unnecessary..... Your position has been clear from the outset.... You’re off your f*cking tits ?

Here's my take on why I think you fundamentally misunderstand the underlying scenario. "Diversity" (how ever you define it and whether you are in favour or not) is OVER represented in the TV, media and certain sectors of society (those that subscribe to that viewpoint.) That was the finding of the article I posted and which has so exercised you. Any conclusions you may wish to draw in relation to your own interpretation of my opinions and rationale for posting that article are entirely of your own making. I have formed the view that you 'want' to call anyone that has disagreed with your over enthusiasm (my interpretation) for "diversity" a racist but you have stopped yourself just short of doing so. The opinions you find contrary to your own, and have railed against, are those of well travelled, well rounded, sensible and decent folk - some I have met in person, others I make that assessment based upon a long history of posting and discussions. For myself, I hold other nations, traditions, cultures, religions and histories in the absolute highest regard. Every one has its own unique place in the world we all inhabit. Some have strengths, some have weaknesses, some have behaved in ways which we might not consider 'acceptable' today - some still do. They all have a perfect right to recognition, to celebrate their history, to practice their cultural heritage and to chart their future course. We may not be too far apart in that regard, I can't see anything to disagree with there (although I wouldn't be surprised if you were one of those history denying statue defacers) Where we seem to part company is that you appear to be advocating throwing everything into 1 big pot and mashing it all up to see what pops out at the end - and I don't. Metropolitan, urban multiculturalism - how is that all working out exactly? Not so well I'd say. But not satisfied with decimating the urban domain with ethnic and cultural ghettos, the extremists are now seeking to spread their bile into the rural domain. Do you really not see the issue with this ⬇️? “This toolkit is about getting people who are not racist to become anti-racist, especially for people who live in rural areas who might be thinking we don’t have that much racism around here,” People that are NOT racist have to be made into anti racist activists....
