Testing, testing, testing.....hmmm...that being said I used a cinch for a bit and it works, there is some getting used to it...however there are better setups IMHO...I use a ISC wrench pulley now with a 20" handspliced eye and eye in a VT...works a charm...smooth as silk...

TBH, the falteimer cubes are pricey because they are made so well....could last a career if the dog doesn't eat it or Lefty Loose Hand doesn't nip it....I had three ( please don't ask why )....sold one in a gear package deal...the other two get some action though my number 1 mostly unless setting multiple lines....the things are truly worth the money...not overpriced IMHO....and those hard on gear better shell out...I will not dis the Stein cube, but it is not a falteimer..... -
Dave , I could not have said it better....so many have tried doing their own, realizing that it pales in comparison when it comes to it's actual efficiency....Mike's is truly one of a kind and deserves the price tag....it will save the body over time....

The main probs with Stein cubes are the rods always come busting out through the upper corners ( stein should reinforce them better )...Falteimers never do that...I have had both...I love the durability of the Falteimers...I always say you only get what you pay for....not sure if it applies for everything but most cases it is so..... -

The best piece of kit from the rope knight seems to be the little thimble thingy that slide onto the end of your rope...looks like a bullet, that helps ease it through those tight crotches....I have not seen the whole kit mind you or even tried it...but I love the look of that piece....have a guy in Southern Cal in the US making me three similar thingys so I will see how they work....it can be a real pisser when one's rope does not want to get through the crotch after all the work to get to that point....start over or just do a pruning cut 1" off the ground...hmmm AGGGH -

Two falteimers, 4 10oz HR's for up to 80'max and a big shot with 14/16 oz for 60' and over in dense tight stuff...like Adam's butt.... I throw with my right hand....never could master the cradle throw... -

No help sorry...but the geckos are pretty adjustable...try a pair at the lowest height if you can... -
On cougar blue....10mm AP, 10mm Code Blue and 9mm Arb Pro...all kick that rope sick...I fly a 3/3 VT though

10mm AP or Code Blue 10mm Beeline.....you can use 8mm if you are a lighter person...both beeline and AP....

Mark, my name is Paul BTW, you would see me post a lot on FB with Adam B and Benn D...would love to climb with you when I get over...I not sure you would call me smooth I am a get er done kinda guy....some days are nice and smooth other are like a bull in a china shop, powering through stuff....yeah after 8 years the spring would get shot...mine is 3.5 as long as I been wrenching...so a little life left....just letting you now I make a very cool chest harness...man bra...that tends SRT systems beautifully...I have climbers all over the world rocking them...from OZ, UK, NZ to USA and Canada....will hook ya up Mark

Well I am coming and as I use both the wrench and rope runner we can get together and do some climbing....I climbed twice DdRT in 2014...and I worked both in the States and Canada...where SRT is fast becoming the norm with newer climbers....

Well said I will be 48 this year been climbing 8 years....and I feel good but I am sure that's because I started climbing at 40...and not 20...plus I been SRT for 3.5 of those years what a dream that style is compared to DdRT....

Dave, I am hearing ya...did not give CT a lot of time as it was an ascender on my distels and I knew I would like the Kiwi style one better which I do....horses for courses...I move through branches with no probs on a pantin...we got some tangled messes in the tropics

I have been on buck ti's from the beginning...switched to aluminium Distels last year...took a bit as the offset is different...but I sold them to buy the KK's...My KK's have a lower bolt pattern for pole gaffs ( Dale dropped the pattern 15mm so they have an offset identical to pole bucks, keep your feet closer to the truck which makes a big diff on smaller diameter stuff ) ....they are kick ass...

I am new to this forum but when it comes to climbing I don't mix matters...kickout on a pantin is all about form....point toes down and keep body upright...best to practice this without a frog walker at first....when started wrenching 3.5 years ago and left DdRT way behind, it's what I perfected first, then added the handled ascender and footloop....that is long history I am all about the HAAS...my chest harnesses keep one perfectly upright for efficiency and ergonomics...no bullshit...Benn Draper, Adam Bourne, Ben Minty, and about a 150 production climbers worldwide know this is the bomb....

I find that lock feature to be a pain....I have never had problems kicking out with my old pantin....actually I like that once I reach the top I can just kick it out and get moving....I had a spikeascender bolt on for my distels made from a CT and it just was not my speed....now that I have some KK spikes with spikeascender man those are a dream...ascender is just like my pantin...but hey you won't know if it's for you unless you try it....Al...

I have had a protos, vent and stein/kasks....I prefer the stein with MSA mesh visor and defenders....it's light and durable...found the fit of the vent weird for my head and the protos to be slightly big and heavier, that being said nothing seals like the muffs of the protos and the mesh shield is very good. They are all good helmets, I find that a helmet is such a personal thing like most climbing kit. Try and see if you can try a few first to see what you like. I did not have that luxury and had to buy them all. ha ha
