  1. Thanks Reg for your positive outlook that is how the wife and I feel. This country Barbados is so stagnant right now I know it's all for the best. Was getting harder and harder to travel. Canada was thought of as I am Canadian but I have no real family there as I was adopted and moved here as a lad. The UK holds so much as you say, and the people are great folk. The place is massive with lots to see and do. I am looking for the fresh start. Nothing is easy when it comes to relocation, but with some patience and willingness I am sure things will fall in place and my family will adjust and settle in.
  2. Now I am so chuffed with all your help...I will now have to use arbtalk way more....I mostly used Treebuzz and FB forums...have a lot of contacts in the UK now thankfully...Richard I will send ya a messenger chat this week...I have a friend sending me the CS material as we speak...so I have something to read...again thanks for all of your help taking time out to let me know the requirements....I appreciate it so much....
  3. Guys it's all cool...I don't really want to leave Barbados per say...it's just things are hard here and opportunities have presented themselves in the UK...the decision will be made this week....no way do I want to trade my tropical paradise for the cold ( I was born in Canada and have spent many years there so I know cold )...but I have a family to support with two small children, as a father I have to do the right thing for them...I am tough and a hard worker who has built a pretty good tree service over here but I can see how things are going in this island and want to make a move before I regret it...I can always come back if things don't work out...I don't want to live in regret....thanks for the help, now I have an idea of what I need to acquire to get myself going....the climbing and rigging is not a problem for me...I am well skilled at treework with good practices ( can always learn more for sure, don't want to come off arrogant here ) and I am sure would be a good asset to some small legit company ( my preference ).....Silky ( Paul ), yeah my father in law lives in Newcastle so I will surely pay you a visit in Durham....
  4. Thanks Benn and Adam....this move is not easy for me but is a sacrifice...all will work out....my skin is thick I know how forums go...I have some good friends who I know will put me right....it's all good....
  5. Tropical life is fine and all that, however sometimes we must make sacrifices for our family as a whole and this is what I am doing for the present moment....Barbados will always be there....England is the place where we will call home soon....the transition will not be easy but I want to do things right and be all above board....all your input about how that will happen is much appreciated...I have some great connections so things should go smooth....looking forward to working in some trees and meeting some great folk....it will take time as I need my tickets but time I will have cause I am Canadian so immigration will be a hurdle....hopefully that will go smooth....
  6. How does one go about attaining the necessary credentials to carry out tree work in the UK, what are the requirements. Coming from seven years climbing experience doing technical removals and pruning work ( without spikes of coarse ). In Barbados we do not have any governing body. I have my own small tree company there. Wife is English, just got a good teaching position and we are moving to the UK. I don't want to sit around dreaming of working that is for sure.
  7. It takes about at least 48" to 52" to make between a 27" to 32" prussic cord....need approx 10" for each double fishermans knot....using 8mm ( 5/16"th ) cord....never used 10mm....
  8. The sequoia is a lovely saddle, however the treemotion is even better. Just depends on your budget. Body shape can play a key part too I would try and hang in a few before purchasing if possible.
  9. Thanks Mista B as you know I am a regular on da buzz, but my wife is a english lass and I spend some time there so I been browsing since Xmas. Decided to meet a few dudes/gals and share some cool vibes island style as well as learn some of the english style of doing things. Started out with a safe soft post as I do love tachyon. Gotta love da Brits so very polite indeed. Have a lot of friends across the atlantic. Very good vibes.
  10. Tachyon is my preferred climbing line fa sure dude. Used with 8mm ocean it is a really smooth and reliable system. It's diameter is definitely easier in the hands compared to velocity which I used to use. Very responsive and the VT does not bind up afer being fully weighted. Footlocking is a breeze with this rope. Got three colors of varying lengths that I use.
