  1. Ok a couple of posts here. First is an ms260 with broken chain brake band. Was nice to NOT be looking at the 200t for a change. But didn't last long.
  2. I remember you saying on the phone about that. Was wondering how you was getting on with it all. I can't work with anyone else on tools as it destracts me and I lose concentration.
  3. I had this from a saw. I forget what one it was but it was a weird shaped plastic cover. Bit like the chain breaks assembly cover only not. The saw came in bits as he had given it to someone else to sort an oiler issue. I spent ages trying to figure it out. Couldn't for the life of me do it. So had to take the saw back with the extra bit in hand. Turns out it was from another saw the bloke had and he had to buy one as he couldn't find it. Your right its not very funny at the time.
  4. Just for me and all the other newbies that are out there that missed last year what is the charity raffle and what do we do???
  5. Now in this case if I was working alongside you I would put a random washer or screw on the floor under your bench on a Friday afternoon and sit back and watch the insuring aftermath. After a few minutes I would tell you and run out the door,
  6. First place I look is the floor, as normally that chainsaw I just turned round on the bench just sent every tool on it flying all over the floor.
  7. I must admit my bench is really messed up and it does need a good cleanup. Maybe tomorrow. Seems a deal on a workshop space is in the making. Needs a lot of sorting but hopefully it will be as clean as Barrie's. I like the look of that lift there Barrie, and I see what you mean now about the space you have. It doesn't look big enough at all. But then I think how ever much space you can have it will never be enough. Might just get one of the kids or clean mine up, she has OCD, then I can spend a week trying to find my tools. I'm starting to think a tidy workspace is a good thing. Maybe the volcano needs to explode and force me to clean up.
  8. Not sure how easy it is to drop the sum and look that way. Might be easier than have to strip the head off. All that timing malarkey, and covers to come off. Would rather the sump than all that.
  9. See should have got yourself a fibre optic inspection camera from Aldi when you had the chance. Personally as gardenkit said get a new element. I wold also drop the oil and change it aswell. If water really has got in deep it will have got everywhere. Remember parts can be replaced we do have the technology.
  10. There was no attempt at even trying to "remote" diagnose an engine problem, just thought knowing what car would help narrow down the differrent expertise on this forum.
  11. As there are no smilies with that I will presume you are taking the mick.
  12. Sorry my mistake yes a woodruff key. Don't know where chuck key came from. It's been a long day ok.
  13. Sorry what car is it?? Can't make many presumptions without knowing the important info?.
  14. Haha. Ok unbolt by locking the piston in place. There are a few tools to do this but using the pull cord method works well. Then undo the nut holding it on. Think it's left hand thread. I never really remember without actually doing it myself. There is a chuck key holding it in place. The flywheel will need pulling off. Spud has a very good screwdriver method for doing this but carefulness over being in a rush is best observed. The flywheel is only alu and will break very easily. It will pop off but again care is needed, can't stress this enough but as you are replacing the flywheel anyway it doesn't matter that much but as you are doing it for the first time it's good practise for any in the future. Use a large flat screwdriver behind the flywheel and tap it in gently with a soft mallet. Try and work around the flyhwheel a bit and keep tapping send vibrations into the flywheel, it will work its way off or you will get one movement in it and it will fall off. Try and save the chuck key if it falls out.
  15. Sorry I was working today and the missis was at home. I will get me coat.
  16. Sorry I will start again. First is to check all the wires and connections are ok. Start at the on, off, choke, switch. There is a metal plate with a wire on it, is this in good nick. The switch also has another wire, I'm sure it's brown, these two make a connection when in the off position. If you follow these wires one will be earthed to the saw casing, the other will go to the coil. If the wires have frayed or broken anywhere between the switch and the coil they will create and earth and ground the saw out stopping the spark. Once these have been checked and no wear is present on them, try disconnecting the could wire and check for a spark if it sparks there is a fault in the wires. If this doesn't work then it's the flywheel at fault. I've had one last year do this and it's something like a 99.9% chance of the flywheel going but I had one go. Hope the second post makes more sense.
  17. The flywheel. Could have saved a few bob by asking mate. Hd exactly the same and thought it was coil. Now have a spare coil on shelf. It was the flywheel magnets worn out. You need a new one. Take it off and use a screwdriver against it, then use the screwdriver against another flywheel and you will feel the difference. Of course this is on the understanding that all the wires and connections are ok. Better to check all these before going onto a flywheel.
  18. Just looked into the drift camera. The reviews I've read have all been good so far, with the expet ion of the usual about the video not being crisp enough etc etc, sure this is just a helmet cam thing tho. It does look good. Not much price difference e between this and the gopro. Does it have attachments for lids??? Looked into the attachment options and it says to buy another battery for it. Also have you found out the max length of the recording? Read it was about 37 minutes and it starts another file over righting the first one so lost video? Can it take a memory card? Being on the lifeboat could mean I'm recording for a while and I don't want to lose any video. Sorry to bombard you with the questions but thought I would ask someone who has one rather than read reviews.
  19. Normally I look forwarded to your posts tony as I find them interesting and informative. On this occasion however that's 30 minutes and 12 seconds I will never see again.... It's something about progress that's rattling around in my head and the need to feed a world population. About all I can say about it without sounding rude. Sorry mate.
  20. Download the music from the YouTube vid onto and iPod and listen away while you are logging. Those that don't want to listen to all the boring stuff about how he "made" it skip to 3.46.
  21. Oh well I guess gardenkit has given me a busy day tomorrow. The parts have arrived mate. Excellent service, keeping up with jonsie there. I'm sure there is a pun in that somewhere... So it's a 200t to put back together and return to owner. No work done exept found out the bearings and seals had gone, and the carb has had an attempted tune but has been knackerd in the process. (Not by me I must add. Only what I have found out) A 260 to put the new chain brake band on and away it goes. And another 200t to put new fuel pipe on, bar and chain, and away it goes after cleaning out the exhaust and a bit of a mod to it to make it sound Beafy. Then it's hopefully onto my landy for a bit of pre MOT maintanace if the weather holds off. Then it's off to a quad in the afternoon, running problems won't tickover. Needs a tweak and a clean out. Also backfiring when being driven, not when it's slowing down only when at constant speeds.
  22. Ok. Go pro hero2 it is then. My Xmas prezzie. Been decided. Getting the surf edition one as it comes with the waterproof kit. Will have to get some of those auto inflating key rings incase it goes overboard. Watch this space for videos from the lifeboat.
  23. I must admit I would love a go pro. But I've heard with the waterproof plastic cover on that I would need for lifeboat vids it can be big and cumbersome to wear. And when wearing all the yellow rain gear and the new life jackets that have more bits on them than my climbing harness the camera can get in the way a bit. Hmmm could be a dear Santa moment.
  24. Ok looking at getting a head cam , probably go pro. Want to do some videoing of work but also for the lifeboat. Needs to work well and will probably get wet so what cover will work well. And will take a bit of a bashing. And good in low level light. Where does the best deal aswell.
