  1. ouch, I was on that wage when I was last employed 5 years ago!
  2. how long is the contract for please? are there any digs?
  3. I get around 90% of the work I quote for by doing a deal on the spot. I would much prefer to have a look at the job abd then go away and post a quote as it's more professional, plus I can have a good think about how long its going to take and how much it's going to cost. In the past I have done this many times, however by the time the quote would drop through their letter box someone else has the job. Then when I get in touch and ask them how they feel about the quote i'd get the answer 'my brother in law is going to do the tree' etc etc.
  4. down to 98 kilos on the scales this morning guys and girls (2 kilos in my first week!). getting there! Still well up for the idea of a chart if something can be made up?!
  5. damn right, lucky escape. I bet she thought she was well quids in for a moment!
  6. .....
  7. wow some folk really do underestimate the size of a task like that. I hope he paid you!!
  8. you can find salvation here brother!
  9. The arbtalk fat club, I like it! looks like I may have started a revolution!!
  10. haha I like your comment, who would of thought big burley tree surgeons and the like are talking about weight loss!! perhaps the mods should change the name of the site from Arbtalk.com to Carbstalk.com
  11. but what if we already have pink toe nails?! good idea of the scale pics though! I dont think it would be good for anyone if we was taking pics of man boobs and beer bellys haha
  12. ive only just started the thread and i'm hearing success stories already, hurrah! can't take credit for this one though!!
  13. when i get a leaflet hrough of the same sort I like to google it for a chuckle, you get back gumtree type ad results such as 'man with van', 'house clearances', 'caravan for sale'. they're buggers lol
  14. but how would we possibly prove it?! there's surely going to be some dude (probabaly already ripped as) on here saying he's lost 5 stone just so that he can get himself a lovely £100 worth of toy vouchers!!
  15. lol yeah you might have to ask the mods for a user name change after a few months, perhaps to '15 stoner'!
  16. I reckon once a week to keep the 'participants' interested?! i havn't been to the gym for a year, but even then it was a flying visit.... a few visits and then 'oh I'm too busy for this!!' gonna see it through this time!!
  17. yeah I reckon you pass the BMI with flying colours!!
  18. haha its a bit embarassing to talk about weight isnt it. mine has been really gradual, around 3/4 a stone a year for the past 4 years. thing is as a climber I think to myself- I really shouldnt be lugging this extra weight up there with me in the tree, I'm creating extra work for myself!!
  19. well half watched her with your hands on your face?! its a wonder more people are not willing to put their hands in their pocket for a pro to do it for them isn't it
  20. now then! who on here wants to keep an arbtalk slimming diary?! Thing is ive gradually put on the weight over the last few years despite having an active job, I think it must be too much stella! Ive put plans into action and im eating salad every day at lunch, cutting back in the evening meal etc and im going to get into swimming a couple of evenings a week to help pick up the pace. So my question is this... who's going to be a big girl blouse and count the pounds with me?! there must be someone out there who is up for it. At the mo I weigh bang on 100 kilos (im 5'9") and wanna lose a kilo every week for the next 16 weeks. again, please don't all laugh at once.....
  21. I agree with that also, it's one thing for the boss to take his own risks- if he was too fall and seriously injure himself then he only has himself to blame. I too feel the fine is disproportionate, afterall he has already been named and shamed so there is no point in placing a fine.
  22. seeing this kind of story really frustrates me. My old gaffer was just the same, he didn't have a clue when it came to health and safety. Not only that but he expected me to work to his standards, bugger that on two of my paid hollidays I paid for myself to be trained professionally through NPTC. It's litterally common sense, any normal person can look at that picture and say 'thats just not safe'.
  23. in my opinion, I think it's a pretty good thing that the olympics have come to London. it's not going to happen again in our life time so we should try to look at the positives. before now I thought what a waste of tax payers money, but the problem is that members of the public hardly get a say in what the goverment spends our money on anyway. at least this way we can actually witness what it's been spent on for once. Just a shame I feel that after the 16 days, the site is going to be barely used.....
  24. buggers arn't they! if dudes are going from door to door touting for work I expect they should be met with caution!
  25. Fantastic, thank you Josh. I shall get in touch with the company.
