  11. thanks for your comments so far on the matter. For those of you intersted, I would be willing to pass on my tree work (swapsies!). for one I feel I am passed my best for climbing, but also with having many hedge cutting contracts i really dont have the time!!

  13. lol yeah I know, I have that one covered too, my work mate loves it. he'll work at the same pace all day long too.
  14. has anyone had experience of magnetic wrist bands, a friend of mine says they work a treat. my thinking is it has a placeobo affect?! got a dickie elbow from swinging around my 5.5kg 30" hs81r's on a daily basis!
  15. my answer to this is that I would not class sub-contracting jobs as my clients, any tree work I would be honest and pass on to origional contractor.
  16. I used to find that there wasn't a great deal of money in hedges, but in actual fact over the years I have more and more new clients that are willing to pay a good price for a quality job. and whats more, I really enjoy hedge cutting.
  17. its a tough one isnt it. I do around 75 meters of hedging for a familly member and the price would be in the hundreds but I get paid £75 it's shamefull, I just have to bite my lip and get on with it.
  18. i live in boston but most my work is around sleaford and grantham way on. thanks Rover.
  19. Its been around 18 month since hedge cutting has overtook my other work loads rather quickly so Ive re-branded myself as 'the Hedge Man'. Since its been going so well ive now got my first full timer on the books and i'm getting alot of new contracts. So my question is... are there any folk out there that want to sub-out their hedge cuttting? I can appreciate that its he kind of work some tree guys like to hold onto for any of the quite periods. But ive noticed some people i speak to in the trade, it's a workload they hate and would rather pass it on! obviously we can do it at a rate whereby you'll be making yourself some decent money off it. We do a really tidy cut and clear so your customers will not be dissapointed. my usuall working area is as far north as lincoln, lincs and as far south as stamford, lincs and everything inbetween!
  20. your go getting attiude is something to be admired, but why on earth would you want to be self empoyed if you struggle to buy in the groceries for the week?? IMO you would have an easier life being employed. self employment is risky if you dont know where your next job is coming from.
  21. just amazes me how the cheeky buggers will do this kind of thing in broad day light. to a certain 'breed' stihl and the like are like catnip is to cats, they just have to have it!
  22. sounds like your taking the right steps, that 8 hours of cardio a week will surely get you on the right track. im making the effort to eat breakfast every morning of two slices of brown toast and two boiled eggs, and that seems to be working- i reckon its a good mix of kick starting metabolism, and the necessary carbs and protein for the day.
  23. You have a tiny coupe car??!! sounds like you need tro get it changed for a little van then you can do your own back garden with ease and then get out at the weekend doing private jobs to earn beer tokens! Back when I was employed a decade ago, I had myself a nice audi a3 1.8t sport, but I also had a long list of private jobs I missed out on in the process. so I got rid of the nice motor, got a van and that was the start of me being my own gaffa!
  24. how we getting on ladies and gents? I'm down to 15 stone 2 pounds, which is a stone off when I first started.
