  1. I've got a Stihl moisture meter.
  2. This baffles my brain. I've never been able to work out what I can tow apart from the 750kg limit which the smaller trailer falls under but would be handy to use a larger one. Passed test after 1997. Deliver in either a Landrover Defender 90 TDI or Nissan Terrano 2.7 TDI SWB. Whats the maximum I can tow on the back assuming there's only 2 passengers and no other loading in the vehicle...? Is it 3500kg minus the weight of the vehicle & passengers?
  3. Hmmm so somewhere shaded but still with plenty of airflow. And needs to be good access for the tractor by the time winter comes so I don't end up ploughing to get them out... this logging business is never easy is it
  4. Do people rate vented bulk bags for seasoning logs then? I quite fancy trying some. Any tips? They would have to be stored outside, barns are full of straw and hay.
  5. Fence posts on those metal post mounts that have a spike on the end and you drive them in to the ground. Keeps the post out the ground.
  6. I'd like to help but all I can say is that hopefully some of the useful guys in here will have some advice! Over the 3 years how have you found your 440? Reliable?
  7. All sorted now. Picked it up yesterday afternoon. Can't remember the full list but it's had the oil pump and oil delivery pipe replaced, maybe some other parts. Main thing is that it's fixed and was done under warranty. Thanks to everyone for your help
  8. I've only just got round to ringing Husqvarna to sort this out, the guy at Husqvarna said just to take it in again with my receipt and say I've spoken to them and my dealer should look at it. So I'll try again tomorrow and see how far I get! I tried this and sure enough it was oiling the bar ok then so it must be something to do with the channel collapsing when it's tightened up properly...
  9. Yeah its green, it was a branch and I only cut it off about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I've told them it's green and that it doesn't want to be going directly on a carpet. They are quite happy with all that so at least I have given the warning. Wisewood - they are mates that are also customers to confuse matters further My initial thought was around £20 so you have confirmed I was in the right ball park. Thanks
  10. Had a strange request from someone I know. They want a piece of Oak to use as some kind of natural looking feature table in their living room... They've seen similar used as display stands in outdoor clothing type shops and then in an interior design magazine. They are literally just going to stand it on it's end. What ever floats your boat I guess. So I've got a bit that would suit them just fine. Only thing is I'm not sure how much to sell it for? It's approx. 350mm diameter and 700mm long and really heavy. Attached a pic of the Oak in question. Any ideas to what I should be looking to sell it at?
  11. Measured up at the weekend, approx. 3.5m long and 1200 diameter. Theres a mill not too far away that might be interested and they come to pick it up with their own wagon. Now I've got 2 problems. First one being I only have an 18" saw and the 2nd one being working out how I'm going to get it out of the field and up the lane to the road because the tractor won't be man enough to lift something like this
  12. Thanks for everyones help. I'll let you know how I get on.
  13. Silver Birch, Ash, Cherry, Oak, Aspen. I haven't cut any Ash recently though been mainly Oak and Silver Birch.
  14. It was bought from an official Husqvarna dealer but on-line. I wonder if it'll turn out I don't actually have a warranty after all because I bought it on-line. I'll have to look at the paperwork that came with it and see what I can find.
  15. They are definitely dealers. He couldn't get rid of me quick enough once I said it wasn't bought from them. I said I didn't buy it from somewhere round here and all he said was phone the manufacturer. Said he'd have to charge if I wanted him to look at it. I'll still try a new bar as no harm in having a spare anyway. If that doesn't work then I'll phone Husqvarna and see what they say.
  16. Went in to my the local husky dealer and had a word, he asked if I got it from them, when I said no he wasn't interested. Said to take it back to who I bought it from. All he suggested was to clean the bar out which I said I'd done. Think I'm going to get a new bar, got a spare chain already so I'll try that. Starting to think it could be what shanks said, the bar got blocked up, got too hot and warped.
  17. Useful to know thanks.
  18. I'm only using it around the farm and bought it privately so should be ok in that respect.
  19. Thanks for the information, I will dig out the receipt before I take it in then.
  20. Hmmm so it's not like with cars where you can take them anywhere as long as they are an approved dealer. That sucks! I really don't understand what the problem is, might have to bite the bullet and get ripped off so at least it's sorted properly.
  21. Still no oil getting on to the bar. I didn't buy my chainsaw from the local Husqvarna dealer - will I be able to take it there and get it looked at under warranty anyway? I presume it'll have a warranty with being so new...
  22. I've just had a look, started it up without the bar on. Oil does come out as it should do so at least it's not the oil pump that's the problem. So I've cleaned the groove in the bar out and made sure the hole in the bar is clean. I'm sure I did that last time but I'll test it out tomorrow and see if that's sorted it. The saw dust that came out of the bar groove was really oily so perhaps it was blocked up with saw dust, I hope it's something as simple as that. I will have a look at what you're saying too GardenKit. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how I get on.
  23. Got mine from Chainsaws and chainsaw accessories, also Husqvarna chainsaws main dealer - Husqvarna Chainsaw Specialists Ordered online a Sunday night, they phoned me on Monday to check details and it was with me by Tuesday.
  24. I've got a Husqvarna 440e with 18" bar, only 3 months old. When I was using it this weekend it was smoking from the bar, getting far too hot. Is it possible to adjust the bar oil output rate? Had a look in the manual and it doesn't tell me anything? It's using the bar oil so it's going somewhere, just not on the bar?! The chain is really dry. If I run the saw near to a piece of wood to see if any oil flicks off there's nothing. I've had the sprocket cover off and cleaned it out but doesn't seem to have made a difference. It's been fine up until now so not sure what's happened. Be grateful for any ideas/advice. Thanks.
  25. My brother actually likes splitting the knotty ones so I pass them over to him. He goes mad with them, I usually end up in stitches at him
