  3. Stubby

    Would you?

What a hero ! The guy with the camera ...was he from Harry hill ?
  4. You didn't ! ...... Great engine , superb . Body is made of high tensile sea water though ......
  5. Think it was Swamp Loggers ...
  6. I don't have a 550 but I have not heard this either
  7. When I first saw it I thought telegraph pole but did not say coz felt a bit stupid ! Glad some one else thought it too . So what are telegraph poles made from ? Firs and pines I would guess .
  8. 395 Would not go above 28" on 390 ( because I don't have to ) 36" is on 395 .404 though .
  9. Never done a comparison but assume/hope it is !
  10. Steve has ported most of my saws including this 390 . As with all of them there ios a vast improvement in performance . Money well spent I say and a professional job . Keep meaning to send my 395 but lately it has been in use . BUT now I;m off work with my knee there is no excuse !! Might box it up to day .......
  11. He played it very close to his chest on that ! Very obviously there is a muffler mod . You can see the cut and shut weld on the can and its louder ! . In his words " a tweek here and a tweek there " . What I will say is since he did the work I have had no hot start problems or any other thing that anoys some people . Is a early saw (2011) and still cuts and runs like a loony .
  12. I used up a 24" chain on my 372 before fitting a new one I removed the bar to file off the burrs and flip it over but there weren't any burrs ! . Flipped it any ways .

    Rats!

    Stand back a tad !
  14. My experience of the Tech lite bar is that after a short time they de laminate . Sugi for me !

    Rats!

Hate the things . Got a gas .22 but the fully moderated .410 does the job better .
  16. And that's why it takes so long to get up in the morning unless you are a banana fish .
  17. Especially pop . Its like blotting paper
  18. A few years ago I had a couple of 15" Husky laminated bars let go at the nose . One theory was too much grease attracting the crud . Since then I have stopped greasing . No more failures . Every saw I have now is set up with Sugi pro lite bars now though . Superb bits of kit . very hard wearing .
  19. Bad news bud . Sorry for you .
  20. DoH ! Of course they are !
  21. If cost was no problem then .....A large cone splitter on the end of a 360 to split the lengths as they lie there ( rather than ringing them up with a saw on the ground ) then the resulting long billets could be cut to the required length , 10" or whatever on a circular saw bench .
  22. Me and Huck along with many others have saws that have fallen in half . It will sooner or later .
  23. Thicker stronger springs are fine if the mounts are up t it but they are not . Stronger springs alone will only make it worse . Less give in the spring ...more strain on the mount ....mount breaks sooner ...saw falls in half .

    390xp vs 395xp

Agreed . I am lucky enough to have 390 , 395, and 3120 . On big ugly lumps I would go for the 395
  25. Its normal . In fact I think they are designed to eventually fall in half . Mine did . I feel it is totally un fair . Paying £500 odd for a saw that only lasts 4 or 5 months is a piss take .
