  1. That only comes up with your own threads, not all the ones you've posted in....
  2. So you're just witholding it from us out of spite then.... WELL.... this might have a bearing on my christmas card list....
  3. Woooo, the plot thickens.... vanished again....
  4. How the hell do you give points...?!?!
  5. You can repeat it all you like Rich, but it's not what he meant!! On some other forums, instead of 'todays posts' or whatever, you can pick, 'updated threads', or 'unread posts since last visit', which is what we get on the home page, and also 'replies to your posts', so basically the subscribe function, but automatic and within the forum platform. You don't get emails about it, but you can choose to have threads you post in to all be grouped together in a list, bolded if they've been updated, not bold when you've viewed the latest post. The 'all posts by' option on this one throws up individual posts, including multiples in the same thread, rather than just listing the threads in which you've posted in the same format as 'todays posts'.... it would be a good feature but perhaps not possible on this platform....
  6. It seems to be very arbitrary.... bit like a Land Rover speedo.....
  7. But based on what criteria.....? Can I give Steve ONE MILLION POINTS for creating such a stir....?
  8. I'm baffled..... what does it all mean...?!
  9. FINE.... be like that then....
  10. Doesn't look too bad to me in the videos I've watched, spring return on the piston seems quick enough.... I presume the trade off for splitting force is speed, without fitting a larger engine and pump, if this was working quicker it might be down to 4 or 5 tonne force with the same engine. A larger displacement pump and bigger engine would add cost.... Most folks at home would rather wait another couple of seconds to split something tough than pay another couple of hundred quid I suppose....

Mine doesn't even know I had it!!!! I concur.... I've let the 18" bar & chain go with it, which I think will actually end up on a 341 which occasionally pulls the 25" which will end up on this one.... I still have a 20" for mine which is what it will probably spend most of it's time, changing only when I really need the bigger bar.... no point wearing out a more expensive bar & chain for vanity....! 25" does look cool though, 'specially with my big double dogs....
  12. Fair point Dan, didn't notice that.... ipads...rubbish... Presumably this is after DRT footlocking up? If so then presumably the answer is probably no.... Only 1 leg will be reliably providing the friction round the waist of the 8, if one slips through your hands you're gone.... It would only be OK if both legs of the line are secured... but if that's the case you can SRT it anyway.... If it's just thrown over a limb then you're going to shoot down it as the free end runs through.... So I can't see how, unless you have 2 8's and run them simultaneously..... You'd be better off converting it to SRT with an alpine butterly when you reach the tip and come down the 8 SRT like that.....
  13. I get the same, what's it supposed to do?

    Gone I'm afraid Mick.....
  15. I used to descend on my 8 before I went over to hc & vt, just pull some slack below your hitch, clip in and drop onto it, then undo your hitch. Bit of a ball ache though, why not descend on your hitch? I only use my 8 chogging down now...
  16. Good thinking!
  17. I know what you mean, this forum platform doesn't do it as far as i know, if you want to follow threads like that you need to subscribe to them...... Under thread tools tab at the top by the way!
  18. Thanks, been looking at that one today, 680 now. Handy, Titan pro, mowers direct and one of the lawn mower manufacturer's versions all look pretty well identical. Mowers direct version looking favourite at the moment, £670 delivered.....
  19. Looking for a small vertical log splitter. Don't want to spend a lot of money, don't need anything too big. Anyone have any experience of the 'Handy' 7 tonne petrol splitter...? Seems to be generally just shy of 700 quid..... looks ideal for what I want... Alternatively, anyone trading up from this sort of thing have one for sale...? Thanks!
  20. I was going to say the same initially but tried to be really diplomatic and even handed & fair to other advertisers... and what does everyone else do....? Never bought a saw from Jones' but bought lots of other stuff and their combination of price and service cannot be bettered.... So yes, FR Jones....
  21. Have you got tickets? If not, you'll struggle to find anywhere selling Stihl or Husky online.... If you do have tickets, then most of the online retailers should be able to sort you out...

By the by, they're a lot of money....Jones' prices are all well and good if you're able to buy from them...! MS 460 - Powerful, fast-cutting professional chain saw And I like the 460 with a 25" bar....
  23. We got home late last night to find the river filling rapidly and police on the bridge next to our house. The highest recorded level was July this year when it was just over a brick course away from coming in the house, so I'm a bit paranoid.... We were up until half 2 clearing the downstairs, stacking furniture and so on.... We woke this morning to find the sun shining and the river down. Drizzled a bit this afternoon and into evening, Teme in Tenbury peaked this afternoon and been falling since, so it looks like the immediate risk has passed for us... However, in my paranoia I've siliconed shut all the doors we don't use / need, just in case.... Thoughts are with those not so fortunate, clearing out our sheds which got flooded in July wasn't nice, can't imagine how nasty it would be in the house... Bizarrely, we were getting lots of messages from concerned friends asking how bad it was the other day.... We'd got nothing at that stage, nor any warnings.... Turns out ITV had recycled some footage they took back in July where they interviewed my wife, was on Central News and Daybreak apparently!!! Cheeky, idle, sods....!
  24. Not for a grab but I made a pair years ago to drag behind a quadbike when I was hedgelaying.... Still have them somewhere I think...
  25. Hosing it down here, flood warnings on the river outside. Our house is prepared for flooding, everything that can be lifted up has been lifted up... I'm sick of this bloody weather....
