  2. Sure I heard somewhere that its the most common tree in lancashire. Wouldnt surprise me. Some of the lake district sycys are incredible trees
  3. Unintentional Bon Jovi lunge. Should have taken my guitar up.
  4. Excuse my ignorance but I still dont understand why we import ash
  5. Only spent about two months in Wanaka then the work dried up so moved to Blenheim. Looks like hes doing alright for himself now though. I was there in summer (NZ summer) 2008. I loved every minute. Milo is an extremely nice man.
  6. here he is
  7. No way! Milo? I worked with him a few years ago. Top guy. Is Murray still working with him?
  8. This should interest a recent HND/FdSc/Ba college leaver or someone looking to try surveying/consultancy work. Job Vacancies Application is through the website but free to PM me informally for any further information. Cheers
  9. Awesome bouldering rooms in Blackburn boulderuk.com
  10. I worked in rural South Island on a junior arborist wage and lived pretty comfortably. Bought a car after two months (a crap one mind) and had enough cash left over each month to enjoy myself. Shared, basic digs but the thing out there is your not gonna want to spent a lot of time indoors. Just a place to get your head down and dump your stuff. What a country it is.
  11. Legend. Got tickets for the talk at the Lowry in Salford. Looking forward to it.
  12. Hiya Rob. yeh and Dave Atkinson. Trev is a bloody good climber. Did they end up getting taken on permanent? Mark is a right laugh
  13. I worked in this post two years ago. Enjoyed it. Good lads. Good saw time.
  14. cool. I got 10 months left. Giving some serious thought to a stint in oz.
  15. Do you know if the 18-30 rule includes 30 years olds? cheers
  16. Your CS units are ample. You need a PTS card though. A company would usually sponser you through that. It's hard, relentless graft. But can greatly improve your climbing, felling and stamina. When I did it money was quite good and they throw tickets at you.
  17. Roughly speaking, If its a singled stemmed tree then measure the stem diameter at 1.5m and times it by 12. Thats the radius of your RPA. The standard just says fencing should be 'fit for purpose' to keep construction activities at bay. Usually Heras but full scaffold framework is what they recommend. Depends on the situation
  18. I think 2005 standard is withdrawn on 30th April. The BSI website is unclear and contradictory though. Surely we'd be given time to get to know the revisions before having to use it.
  19. Yeh its pretty special. I think the rain added to it to be honest. Its on hillside over the lake from LLanberis. Its also known as Padarn country park. Im not sure if its ever been used as pasture, its a SSSI and once a 'Royal Forest' of some description. Crawling with feral goats though, munching all the regen.
  20. A few pics from a very damp day in an ancient Snowdonian oakwood. Goes by the name of Coed Dinorwig
  21. Ill be up for this is theres room in the tree for a littlun?
  22. very very tempted
