  1. wasn't it? This idiom traces its roots back to a custom that was known in North America since the early 19th century. Chip on shoulder - Wikipedia EN.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  2. The girl was treated a bit like a member of the National Front, she is still saving up for her swastika tatoo. Her speech says it all - with all the ethnics from around the world in class invited to celebrate their cultures, this English girl was being made to feel that celebrating being British is tantamount to Xenophobia
  3. its like several exotic hardwoods - breathing in sanding dust and sawdust not good, but finished product not thought to be harmful
  4. someone had better tell the sellers Eden chopping board Iroko wood EQP006-3727 | Advantageously shopping at Knivesandtools.co.uk WWW.KNIVESANDTOOLS.CO.UK Eden chopping board Iroko wood 37x27cm
  5. ok so the article says about half, if we can ever extricate ourselves from ECHR it would be a step towards dealing not with half, but all of them.
  6. I thought that if you're in the EU there are quotas for how many asylum seekers have to be accomodated, I doubt with all those coming across the med from Africa to Italy Greece and Spain that the UK would have been allowed to simply 'send them back to France' even if we'd stayed in. Remember there has been a huge surge in migrants into the EU (and some onward to UK) in recent years. If the vote back in 2016 had been remain the UK would not be returning all illegal immigrants straight back to France -surely that would not have happened (purely because of the EU quota system?)
  7. I wasn't disputing Trump's failure on Ukraine or your other points, but you made it sound as if his success at stemming the flow at the southern border is insignificant compared to his failures. I don't think so. Now we have a water shortage in the UK and the small boat migrants aren't bringing their own water with them.
  8. a dedicated thread for (illegal) immigration would be so toxic you'd need to put disposable gloves on to pick up your phone
  9. how has that affected Iranians?
  10. I don't understand this bit - how did Tory policy account for all the Iranians coming over illegally and claiming asylum? Or Albanians? I know you can talk about the wars in Afghanistan and Syria, but how did Tory policy make all the Iranians and Albanians want to come to UK?
  11. The Tories struggled to get tough laws through because Labour were always voting against Rwanda and other measures - the graph shows a jump after Covid, but it came down as migrants saw the Conservatives were serious about Rwanda. Now it's up under Labour - if you search it the estimates are between 25 and 40% up in Labour's first year. I'd like to see the graph under Reform. If you were lucky enough to own a nice detached house with say a 2 acre garden you wouldn't want all the travellers coming on your garden and setting up home - small boats migrants are in the garden
  12. 2.4 million approx under Trump 1.0 ~10 million under Biden - maybe swamped is the wrong word? and we are seeing similar patterns in the UK - small boat crossings have increased markedly under Labour - the Rwanda deterrent was starting to work even before they could deport anyone Illegal immigrants on both sides of the pond put a huge strain on public services
  13. dumb enough to not want your country swamped by the world's poor
  14. Im worried if I walk on by I'll lose the thread of the thread. I'll jyst have to accept it as pollution - make me a bit ill, but wont kill me
  15. it's you that needs to learn self control one of your recent LinkedIn posts has put that he's a teacher and 'truth seeker'. These people are not worth listening to.
  16. those saws don't seem like nearly enough to justify all the LinkedIn reposts we have to suffer - my life would have been far better if I'd never encountered the likes of James Harvey. Why not repost all of Arbtalk on LinkedIn? just to kill some time
  17. I had an eye like that last year, first word that sprang to mind was haemorrhage - looked up red eye and saw loads of eyes like mine 'subconjunctival haemorrhage'. Was relieved when it said most blood will be reabsorbed within 2 weeks. I read around it and hoped it was just a momentary increase in blood pressure, maybe caughing that caused it. Yes can be brought on by infection also. Re the MMR rates it's reported Liverpool is very low at 73%, quite a number of unprotected kids. North England average more like 85%. WHO recommends 95%. Measles is bad enough, the one I fear returning is smallpox. A disease all but eradicated through potentially unsafe immunisation.
  18. My impression is that the social media revolt against covid vaccines has lead to a decrease in parents getting their kids to have MMR. Could be completely unrelated.
  19. some think Johnsond is spoiling the thread for everyone else, I think Stephen P is as much to blame. Luckily I dont take any notice, only come on here for the tree cutting content
  20. the trouble seems to be the private sector only know how to convert public sector waste into shareholder dividends
  21. they don't mind
  22. seems the doctor put in charge of NHS England disagrees
  23. I thought it was a pun an amusing use of a word or phrase that has several meanings- LBGTQ (alphabet people) on the receiving end for a change - either a giver or receiver
  24. Total libtards - real people with feelings - not keyboard twats like you, cant be arsed to stand for Reform, cant be arsed to attend anti immigration protests - charge your phone up and change the world
  25. thinking of your future career, had to edit out the cannibalism bit - we've all got to watch it. Im more worried about the army
