  1. No vote unless your great great great grandparents were born in UK
  2. having left a big sticky up bit and a big bulge on one 'corner' on a supposedly finished purple plum haircut the other day, I certainly won't be throwing my hat into the ring I came up with the usual excuses about trees not being perfectly symmetrical and geometrical in nature, but on revisiting the garden a few weeks later I realized my pruning skills were only slightly better than the dreaded gypos
  3. there's also the risk of airborne fungal spores infecting fresh pruning cuts, pruning now means the tree's anti- microbial defenses have some time to block up the pipes and seal it off before most of the spores are released in autumn
  4. I thought he was on about Only Fans - a well paid side hustle for some
  5. wow OF - a no holds barred approach to climbing the property ladder -whatever it takes, no matter what
  6. it seems to me you quoted my post without really thinking about what I wrote. Clearly not every person who invests will make money, I mentioned a few members who do have a high investment, but are making money. Shutler has bought himself a nice smallholding out of it, from what I've been reading. Some people just are good at retaining and gaining new customers - their reputation precedes them
  7. how can it be a mugs game? What you mean is most people aren't intelligent enough to know how to build a good reputation, intangibles that build a moat around their business to help protect from competition. Members aspen, greygit, arbwork, et al they have far more gear than most. They aren't poor mugs
  8. which means my suggestion of stripping and returfing may have been a complete waste of time and money. Do you think the meadow grass was in the seed they used? They are cutting turf, fertilizing and then regrowing on the same fields? Seems almost grounds for a partial refund, don't know the legalities if you are evem allowed to leave a negative google review
  9. If it isn't a big lawn (under 200m2 say), he could hire a turf cutter, strip it, then either top soil and reseed, or re turf. Then meticulously scour the new lawn and fork out out each broad leafed invader grass clump as they reappear. Or spend a day or so forking out all of it out now, (will be difficult to eradicate if its prevalent, as there will be seeds) then fill in with topsoil, cut the lawn very low, scarify and overseed. Or get a brain transplant. https://www.rhs.org.uk/weeds/coarse-grasses
  10. may be worth a try with aerosol solvent (Easystart, carb cleaner, electrical contact cleaner) take spark plug out and spray some direct into cylinder, can also take air filter off and spray a bit into intake, failing that put a a carb kit in it
  11. lots of people want high screens, a development on sloping ground where neighbouring properties can overlook is one reason. Was on this the other day, took about 4ft off back down to second floor gutters. Mux of bay and laurel, ok if they can afford big plants to start it quick
  12. I punted on a 'barely used' pair of these on ebay - had a year out of them so far and looking good for at least one more year. Probably would pay the new price - I like the Haix airpower range, comfy for me and hard wearing Haix AIRPOWER XR3 toe-cap/midsole waterproof breathable safety work boot WWW.EBAY.CO.UK You never compromise. This is ensured by the resistant outer leather. The right shoe for your feet. The integrity of your feet is essential. The boot is therefore equipped with a composite toe...
  13. my Stihl cutters I undo the torx machine screws on the gearbox cover, usually at the start of an all day job, takes five mins, use a tub of lithium grease 500g and just smear it in
  14. It's the owner's taste - same as trimming the bushes
  15. If that was asked of me I would hire a rotavator and stump grinder. And tell them I can flatten it out, not make it hoizontally level, and then seed it, the only reason for spirit level is a base for garden building. If using grass seed it wants doing while theres still a few rain showers about A decent wide landscaping rake and or lute for the soil. If you can borrow a roller even better
  16. I have not used a 2511, but my 360TES has been going over 10 years, not as powerful as 200T, but more reliable ime. Radmores has the 362WES exactly the same price as the 2511, quite a bit more power for logging up small stuff, and 8.4 lbs Personally if I can bring myself to 'invest' in a small logging up saw I would like the more expensive new 43cc Echo CS-4310SX (weight 9.5 lbs) that is on a par with a Stihl MS241 Echo CS-4310SX Petrol Chainsaw (42.9cc) - Radmore & Tucker WWW.RADMORETUCKER.CO.UK The most powerful and lightest chain saw in its class. The ECHO CS-4310SX is a professional grade, mid sized chain saw suitable for a wide range of applications, including felling. With...
  17. I run two Ivecos - both 3.0 chain driven. The interiors are good enough for me and loads of power, far better when loaded going uphill than the Transits. What lets Iveco down for me if you want to keep hold of them is the factory mastic underneath does not offer long term corrosion protection - although hearing another member talking about taking a new Hilux in for rust protection, maybe all manufacturers are not bothering too much - the vehicles should go to the scrapyard soon enough that they can sell you a replacement
  18. profundity what - he reminds me of Vespasian
  19. I don't have a log burner, so using up my yearly particulates allowance
  20. tidy up after overdue hedge trim - 15 years growth, next cut around 2040
  21. I'm asking if stump grinding with bits of wire grown into the stumps poses much danger to machine and opetator, i know a hedge flail is a different beast to a padestrian grinder, but remember hearing of a fatal accident with barbed wire being thrown at operator through rear window
  22. Ive been using a batter grinder on it but the biggest stumps are 14" with wire grown into the wood
  23. felled a line of trees next to fence, stumps have wire grown in, do people use a stump grinder or not risk it and ask for digger?
  24. don't be so hard on him - he's just getting used to the fame thing before the internet a bloke may have shared his thoughts with a few workmates, friends and family, nowadays you can type stuff knowing people all over the world might possibly bother to read it
