  1. Maybe you could list what you are looking for in a friction hitch might help? Grip, reliability, durability, sprortiness would all be usefull. Help us help you!
  2. Edit: moderated by gross alcohol consumption.
  3. Hahahaha brilliant! Do you reckon they have specially made pants to accommodate their gargantuan testes?
  4. If I get scared or nervous, I normally start singing. What ever comes into my head. Very loud, very high pitched, and most of all, very badly. The ground lads take the mick, I respond with even more annoying songs. Pretty soon you forget why you're scared with all the banter going on. Erasure - Little Respect works brilliantly.
  5. http://youtube/4tDVVN6RhG0 Fixed that for you
  6. I know, I kept thinking "that's insane", then he'd take it up another notch! Last time I was up 100ft+ in a line my voice went up an octave!
  7. I quite enjoy telling people about my job, I act like its nothing special, and love it when people say "you wouldn't catch me doing that!" But I had kittens watching this: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A_h2AjJaMw]Tower Climbers working - YouTube[/ame]
  8. I think that while the hi flex are very comfy trousers, they don't last very well. Husqvarna make some cracking strides, and my pair or Oregon waipoiua (can't spell it properly so I just threw some vowels together) seem to be pretty hard wearing.
  9. Damn, was my proffered backhander of a half mars bar duo and 2 5p off fuel coupons insufficient?
  10. Haha sweet. You're in Leicester right? If Max's rec climb thread comes through I'd be interested to grill you about it!
  11. I too can really recommend Matt. Very knowledgeable, and a great teacher. Got his number somewhere. I'll send it to you if I can find it.
  12. Yup. Little nick either side of the gob, essentially ring barking the tree before you push the section over. Was taught "ears" in college, but the lads I work with know it as a box cut.
  13. PM sent mate. Yeah they were recently. Don't know if they still are. The advertised wages werent hugely competitive, and it involved far too many street trees for my interest!
  14. Fair enough, it's down and the fence is still up. Job done. Where'd the brash go, didn't spot any access, not through the house! Don't you just love cleaning up on gravel!
  15. *blows smoke from barrel and holsters six gun*
  16. Tricky job for such a small area. Well done. I know you don't like spikes but without those pegs your rigging could have gone much smoother bro!
  17. I'm doing my CS41 in the new year. I'm from Rugby. I'll find out where from my employer.
  18. "Hey look, it's a cock, but smaller!" Jarhead
  19. I can roll a ciggy at the same time as getting my coffee sent up, should I ask for a pay rise?
  20. Fair enough, I figured that the topic had started to refer to both. I can't see the point in a powered pruner, for the record. I don't even like using a silky pole, and love climbing, so I'll try to climb to my point where possible. The only time i'll get one sent up is when it'll be a complete ball ache to scramble to the tips.
  21. How so Adam? This thread has me split into two minds. One is of the efficiency argument. On the other hand I'm still learning and would love to be able to reach any bit of any tree without needing a silky pole. I appreciate there's a fine line to be drawn here. And once you start using a pole silky it can cause a slippery slope to laziness, but I think its a bit closed minded to say never. For the record I'm not talking about a powered pole saw, in any of my posts.
