1. Yes - mine does it from time to time, but it's no real drama. In theory, the loading circuit should run under gravity, without the Laddomat pump running, but with the valve open. If it's not plumbed in properly e.g. Pipe runs too long or not enough vertical distance between flow and return it can boil. When mine does, it vibrates and boils out of the top of the vented cylinder through the overflow - no real drama, but if it was plumbed in proper, it wouldn't happen - I'll get it sorted one day. In theory, with a 75 degree Laddomat stat, you're able to set the flue star switch as low as 50 degrees, or even lower, because you won't lose any heat below 75 degrees even with it running. The loading circuit will cool down, but that doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

Hi, sorry for the delay, I didn't realise I had a new pm.

As for wood, I burn anything and everything as long as its dry. I actually prefer a mix to be honest, starting off with larch or other softwood to get the firebox up to temperature and then switch to hardwood to save having to refuel as often. I don't keep the fire in overnight, as I don't like shutting all the vents down due to risk of tarring the flue, so maintaining an ember bed isn't quite as important. Hope you get sorted, but feel free to pm if you think there is anything else I could help with. Geoff

3. Adamam - did you see my comments regarding the replacement tank for my 260 on my thread? It fits a treat and seems to work well.
4. 45 ccc chainsaw | Fife | Gumtree I'm no expert, but it doesn't look right to me. Anyone know what it might be?
5. All done and up and running better than before - probably benefited from cleaning the carb and air filter as part of the process. Thanks to landrover101 for pointing me at the service manual. I've learnt a lot about maintaining the saw so all is good. I'd recommend the part to anyone looking for similar.
6. It's looking pretty good I've just got to fettle the throttle rod and it'll be good to go.
7. I've got a 20kw Stratford boiler stove mated to a dinky 300l thermal store via a laddomat load charger. The thermal store also takes oil and solar thermal feeds too and delivers heating and how throughout the house using conventional rads. We used 300l of oil last year (for when I was away working) and about 10 cube of logs which I process myself. Sort of a middle ground between Genset Steve and full log gasification setup. Oh and its a 4 bed detached with me working from home so using heating during the day.
8. The circulation pump on the laddomat should be wired in with a switch - mne is just a light switch. The thermostat needs to be wired into that switch so that even n the on position, the feed to the circulation pump is only live when the stat is open e.g. The flue is up to temperature. There's a wiring diagram here http://www.dunsterheatltd.co.uk/images/Laddomat%20Flue%20Thermostat%20-%20Laddomat%20Installation.pdf Good luck
9. Magic parts says 0829 too. Stihl MS260 Spares - SPARES & PARTS
10. 0834 is identified in the 2012 parts catalogue here http://www.lsengineers.co.uk/media/pdfs/stihl/MS260.pdf as the correct number 0829 is identified in an earlier 2009 parts catalogue here http://www.keepandshare.com/doc/2061856/ms260-ms260c-pl-pdf-july-12-2010-12-24-pm-508k?da=y So it's not clear which is the correct one, but as my saw is pre 2012, my money is still on 0829 - fingers crossed!
11. The eBay item is the correct part number. Thanks for your help.
12. Cheers guys. I've ordered it. For £40 it's got to be worth a punt. I now need to work out how to take it apart and fit the new one.
13. Perhaps! Its mad up here today. Managed 3 ranger loads of firewood scrumping before I bit off more than I could chew with a large beech limb. Just need to get it back up and running as there is still plenty of 'clearing up' to do!
14. Hi folks - after a little accident with my saw today I'm the market for a replacement tank housing for it It has a part number on the bottom - 1121 791 1003, but a search of the parts catalogue suggests that 1121 350 0829 is actually the correct number. So I've seen this on eBay - STIHL MS 240 / 260 REAR HANDLE / FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY NEW | eBay Do you think this will do the job? Anywhere else worth looking for spares? Thanks in advance.
15. It might be worth saying where you are and how much you are looking for. Good luck
16. Dean - I'm not sure, but they cost peanuts and are easy to change without draining the system, so it might be worth trying a 75 deg C one.
17. NFD - have you considered changing the stat in the ESBE load unit? If the syphoning is through the load unit, then a higher temp one may help reduce it. The highest temp stat available is 75 degrees, which may help.
18. Or you could use one of these - placing the sensor on the flow pipe at the tank end. All-purpose Digital temperature controller with Sensor thermostat 2 Relay | eBay I use one to switch on the ch pump and open the valves when the top of the accumulator tank gets to within 5 degrees of the TPR valve opening. Probably worth a punt at only £18
19. Laddomat Flue stat here too - works a treat. 50-300C FLUE THERMOSTAT LADDOMAT BIOMASS LOG PELLET BOILER WOOD STOVE | eBay
20. A classic from the Daily Mash Wood burning stove brings authenticity to middle class man’s life THE purchase of a wood burning stove means that a middle class man’s life is no longer superficial. Rugged, solid, earthy etc 36-year-old web designer Stephen Malley found that he is much more real and grounded since buying a stove that wood goes into. He said: “I’ve got a heap of logs. Logs made from trees. Actual trees, from forests. “I handle the logs.” Malley had been concerned that his desk-based job, consumerist lifestyle and inability to stop thinking about money had left him somehow removed from the natural world. He said: “Now that I’m burning wood on a regular basis, I feel that I’ve returned to a primal state. A sort of rugged innocence, if you will. “I am basically a caveman, except my cave is a house that has an Apple product in every room and several large books of contemporary art prints. “Next thing is to buy an axe, although I need to call the council first to find out if I need an axe license.”
21. If there were branches in the pond, it could be that the bottom got stirred up. If it was anoxic, H2S and some other anaerobic products could have been released out of the sediment and poisoned the fish. I can't believe veg oil from the chain has caused that.
22. I would have one any for sale? Me too
23. If you can make what you want / need with the prices you are charging then stick at them. Just make sure you have all your costs covered - including the less obvious ones.
