  1. Hi, I'm looking to buy a hedge cutter capable of cutting back gnarly overgrown farm type hedges (Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Dog rose etc and probably some brambles too). I'm just researching at the moment to see which one has the best specs for what I need. At the moment the Stihl HS 86R is the only one on paper that seems to have the right specs, bigger cutting capacity and lower stroke rate. (But possibly have blades made from plasticine?!) I've ruled out Husky because all the ones I checked out didn't have a very good cut capactiy. I've read that Echo are highly rated. But only for fine trimming it seems? I've not been able to find the specs yet for some of the other makes, (Tanaka & Kawasaki) The Kawasakis look like they produce a bit more HP than others, but pricier! So can anyone recommend a robust hedge cutter up to the job in mind? Thanks in advance Brian
  2. I've got some Volbeat songs in my library....They are Danish, same as Lars Ulrich from Metallica and they have supported Metallica for a few shows
  3. Do you think it's possible that they may have deliberately stalled the release of the T540XP so as to help sales of the T536LiXP? When sales start to drop after the initial rush for the battery saw.....Hey presto the T540xp arrives on the scene? My conspiracy theory may be a load of tosh ....but you never know?
  4. This company is based near Shrewsbury. Not too far away from you? Midland Tree Haulage
  5. That's pretty much the same for me.
  6. My little Chinese elm arrived today.....in a 3ft tall box! That was to do with the fancy bows, ribbon and balloon on a stick it came decorated with! (It was a birthday present ) It came from Bonsaidirect according to the box. I'll post a pic tomorrow hopefully
  7. I liked that!
  8. Sugar, whipped cream and mandarin oranges
  9. I'd say go for it Mike! I did my climbing tickets at the end of last year at 36. Two of the lads on my course were young enough to be my sons! Don't forget when you do get your tickets to wave two fingers at the people who doubted you could do it
  10. I've just downloaded a collection of 11 eBooks on bonsai....didn't cost me a penny Going to have look through them shortly
  11. Thanks for that. I had a feeling that would be the case but thought I'd ask the question anyway to make sure.
  12. I was just wondering if my first aid cert I have would still be valid in the eyes of the HSE and employers? I did the 4/5 day advanced course about 10 years ago! I know it was advised to do a refresher every 3 years, but not sure if that was a must or just a recommendation Anyway I don't actually have a copy or my cert as proof any-more but if it is still recognised. I was going to see about obtaining a copy if possible from the training provider.
  13. If you check out the link to the website, it says Bridgnorth area
  14. I have some similar and for a similar price from Lidl last year....bought for the same reason as yourself.
  15. There was a company advertising, yesterday on here, looking for a groundy in the Shropshire West Mids area...Bridgnorth based I think?....Any good?
  16. Done.
  17. I've always stuck with softer woods (Sycamore and Hazel mainly). Was told it's better until you get used to handling the knife and keeping it sharp as if you end up forcing cuts in a harder wood you are more likely to have a slip!
  18. I will have to keep mine alive at all costs! Its being bought for me by my girlfriend and we've not been together long, she said I can look after the bonsai and nuture it and watch it grow like our love!! No pressure then! lol
  19. I'll be watching if anyone come up with any advice too because I'm due to be getting one next week for my birthday I have no idea what is is or where it's coming from so will have to wait and see!
  20. I've decided I'm going to get some Aspen in to try. Before I wasn't willing to take an 80 mile round trip especially to buy some or pay the £20+VAT delivery charge to get some direct from Aspen! I spend a bit of time in the Welshpool area at the moment, so next time, I'm going to pop over to Newtown to get some Aspen from the stockist there..... Plus I see they stock quads, ride-ons and Kubota tractors. So will have an oggle at them too
  21. As all others have said layering will be the best option. If you really feel the need to plant I know of a possible source quite local for you.
  22. I was told you need photo evidence too? I've had several pothole incidents over the last 3 years, Must of caused a total of a grands worth of damage! 2 new alloys, damaged suspension mount and lost count of how many tyres! Guaranteed by the time I've got back in daylight or road dried to get a decent photo the hole has been temporary filled!
  23. I quite like mine ....... Numerius Fannius Galba
  24. Must be going in to Kronospan?
  25. I had a blackthorn stab me on the inside of my wrist joint about a year ago, whilst laying a hedge. Must of had 10mm piece that I couldn't get out and it just healed with the thorn still in and left a small lump. Never really though much of it until I had a dull ache and stiffness in that part of my wrist this morning out in -7
