    Cat log?

Some good ones on here, http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/30735-faces-trees.html
  2. You'd have to part ex your saws for a lightsaber though:sneaky2: Joking aside I'd be interested to hear what people use. Being a glasses wearer causes more fogging up issues. I think the full mask/respirator is probably the best option. Currently roughing out with mesh visor, detail with just glasses and sanding with dust mask.
  3. great shop, great guys! I'm not exactly a big buyer but they have always offered brilliant customer service. I cannot sing their praises enough!
  4. Thanks for the kind words guys, Harvey B it took about a day to carve but that's including lots of tea drinking and plenty of chit chat. Alec, I'm intrigued. PM sent mate.
  5. Carved in relief on backrest of readymade oak memorial bench. Legs ebonized with rust/vinegar solution.
  6. Walkers Organic solutions off Formby bypass but you may have to pay. Pm me if you need the number, but keep me in mind for any big butts though:sneaky2: Cheers, Si
  7. Welcome back Kim, good to see you're in top form.
  8. He's got a knowing expression about him:thumbup1:
  9. Cheers Goodpig, in answer to your earlier question the abstracts are off previously planked beech, the smaller ones are from off cuts, waste not want not:001_smile:
  10. Thanks sloth Good fun to carve but a PITA to sand!
  11. I don't know what's going on tonight but both my posts have put the pics on their side:confused1: Please turn your head or laptop/phone, whichever is easier
  12. Current series on sand erosion patterns.
  13. The fungal cups aren't so much new but rather reworked with the splash of red.
  14. Nice job Dave, like the detail on the books, is it school's logo?
  15. Hi Rob, Sorry to hear about your mate, this is the one I did for him, Barry's bench. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaw-carving-forum/48985-otter-memorial-bench.html All the best, Si

    Movember

I shaved the beard this morning and am now sporting a fat pencil tash:laugh1:
  17. Alright Dave, hmm could have done with sunshine today mate. New yard is nice and remote but I really miss not having a cosy workspace under cover. Really need to sort something more permanent. Thanks for the kind feedback folks, the uprights were maple and the boards were syc. Both supplied by fellow carver and all round top guy. I milled the boards with an alaskan mill(borrowed from more top blokes:sneaky2:) The teacher was a forest school teacher and an avid book reader. Thought it would be nice to have the books come to life so to speak with the animals emerging from the pages.
  18. Finished today despite the weather, got soaked! Not the best conditions for sanding eh!
  19. Love that, very clever use of the shape:thumbup:
  20. I'm sure most carvers sign their work, usually with stylized initials. Runic type is great if yours are all straight lines, curvy letters are tricky to carve. I carve an arrow head as my surname is Archer and I don't like doing S's:sneaky2:.
  21. Some great otters there, I've done a few over the years. This is my first and possibly best so far, swimming otter seat.
  22. Cheers muttley, hmm yes a minimill would be more versatile. Would love to try one out though:biggrin:
  23. My thoughts exactly Chris, Festool are a great make. Out of my price range right now though.
