  1. Head got ripped off and stolen last night:thumbdown: Seems that free public art is not good enough for some, enjoy your bargain you colossal
  2. I'm interested in. the large stems. what are they and what diameter are they? cheers Simon
  3. Very nice Roni, I love spalted beech. Let's see the original then
  4. Nice one Tom he's bad ass! He looks better with the sword:sneaky2:
  5. Haha no mate but you've got me thinking.... mmm who was that masked man? Thanks for the comments guys, I'm up for more of these little interventions, watch this space haha
  6. Great first effort, even on its side you can tell instantly what it is I know very little about eleccy saws, if you can get hold of a 1/4 sprocket for them then yes it would work. Why electric? Is it a noise thing or a fume thing or both? If noise is an issue the echo saws are pretty quiet for petrol, for carving try the 280wes or 360wes Hopefully someone will come along with an answer to the electric option. Cheers Si
  7. Someone put a t shirt on this roadside log a while back, I thought it was time it got a head:biggrin:
  8. I'm a sculptor and more recently a chainsaw carver. I joined because of the carving forum but often find myself dipping in to many of the other forums. I've made great business connections and great friends too. There's always something interesting to read about, but most of all there are some really funny folk posting on here:biggrin:
  9. Some great ones since I last looked, Geoff I'm lost for words:laugh1:
  10. Haha just realised, that's where I'm moving from lol
  11. Thanks for the offers and ideas guys, it's all very much appreciated:thumbup: Nige, yes probably bit too far really but would like to hook up some time mate, maybe have a little carve up with Ste too. John, same again mate, I really need local otherwise I'm losing carving time on an already short day, I have to drop and collect the kids from school. I would like the chance to see your set up though, When I'm sorted and have spare funds I'll give you a bell, I'm always after big butts:001_smile: ukminch, yes mate that would be great, where are they based? Triassic, good idea bud, the only thing I haven't tried is local papers. I'll get on to it. I'm still waiting on some local farms to get back to me, Local nature reserve can offer free temporary storage but have no undercover space, so looks like I'll be going down this route for now and putting some big tarps over the wood until something more long term turns up. Any more offers or ideas more than welconme Cheers, Si
  12. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/62156-help-new-workspace-needed-asap.html#post950560 I posted this on general forum, please get in touch if you have any leads, I have less than 2 wks to move on. Cheers guys
  13. I put out a request a few weeks back for any leads on a new workspace. I'm still needing one, I have until end of next week to move out and really, really need somewhere to move to. If you know of anyone with an area to carve from and some under cover storage, be it a tree firm, firewood dealer, farmer or small holder within 10 to 15 miles of Formby, Liverpool please let me know details so I can get in touch. Thanks peeps
  14. Dave did you stick around for the charity auction? I've no idea what they all went for. Had a great but exhausting day, met some top carvers and arbtalkers alike, sorry I didn't get to speak to everyone, I was frantically trying to keep up to speed with the rest:laugh1: Anyone got any pics, I was going to snap some but my phone died:thumbdown:
  15. it's a smaller version of the power gouge, have a look here
  16. Hi Ash, Love your work mate. I think a couple of the top competition carvers can get them mate, I would recommend befriending as many as possible on facebook if not actually in person. Get over to some of the big comps and have a chat with the carvers while you're there.
  17. That's what I thought too. The Stihl badge is wrong on the flywheel and the clutch cover has Stihl on it whereas the genuine one has nothing. Someone has said before that they are still made in Brazil but I reckon that's got to be a good fake.
  18. Hmm, This guy is selling two 070's one is genuine, the other ?? stihl 070 petrol chainsaw , a genuine low hour saw mint condition perfect runner | eBay stihl 070av 36" cut chainsaw mint condition very low hours use | eBay
  19. He looks mean mate, wouldn't want to mess with him, nicely done:001_smile:
  20. Hey Jonny is Tommy carving this?
  21. I'd love to have that! If it's still there in a month or so I might be interested.
  22. Yeh I thought it was a bit odd as I was sure you had a spot early on. Glad you're sorted now though:001_smile:
  23. Haha thanks Dave but I'm just a newbie to comps too. we are always learning, whether from each other or by jumping in at the deep end. I suspect for us and a few more it will be the latter
