  1. Aye thats the best way, get ur 30-31 first and post a thread up here, also to get some work time in offer to do a day for free. At the end of the course the firm may offer you a job. And i know what u mean by the waiting around as i left the military after 12 yrs straight into college lol massive shock. Stick at it bud and keep yourself busy and complete the course work on time, dont just go for a pass since you have the time at min go for distinction all the way and start learn those latin names bud
  2. Aye i gave them a call when i was looking for insuarnce they ended up beingbthe 2 nd cheapest but had a lot more to there policy. So went with them, and there business maner was a lot professional
  3. I too was going to do the short term college, however i went and did the course you metioned. Just from my point of view and a friends we both got jobs over others from the extra knowledge we learnt in the longer course. It was a 3 day per week so ment i could also work 2-4days on the ground and in the trees giving me time to work and put into pratice what i learnt and then learn some more as well as gaining that extra lil bit which you wouldnt of got else where. Id go for the long term course as i wouldnt have done it different. But its all down to you bud. Also the 4 cs ticket u gwtbwhen u pasd is the minimum to start, if you can get chipper aswell even better
  4. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem;PdsSession=21485ae813a0a47a16008450fffb1cc5?itemId=180982472757&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=35579696604
  5. Even the tron helmet is cheaper lol
  6. Just phoned a friend who was moving out to canada early next year, so he'll be in touch
  7. Amazing job for someone to snap up, also Edmonton is a great city to live in. Just a couple of years to early for myself. Good luck
  8. Can the ear defence be changed to plain coloured 1's?
  9. Because i miss read the price, being that you had to add tax etc
  10. Ah lol got ya😉 still gay though ha
  11. Lol ah k, it looks good apart from the ear defence and those gay arrows on them, and now seeing the price at over £200. I wont be rushing out to buy one just yet
  12. I guess that the designer thought that because the helmet is oversized to house the ear defence and visor brackets etc that the air will circulate around the helmet therefore not needing vents! As i said its just a thought O and the 2 small holes maybe for the helmet strap to fit into.....
  13. Ebay doesn't do anything til its to late and sold. Others like farmers young lads or old just starting there on lil company will buy them too. As im looking at starting up myself within the next 18 months and i cant afford a £15.5k chipper so even i maybe in the same vote when the time comes
  14. Would it not be best to ask local arb's? Im working for a local landscaper only beacause i went up to him had a chat and gave him my card and said what my daily rate was for climbing only etc. i say this as i know it depense on where you live etc so around here an average price would be between £100 - £150 without veh chipper etc A groundie wouldnbe about £50-£80 with basic tickets
  15. With the 1.5m run the time depense on ur age, so uf u was in an non infantry role a male under 30 would have to do it in 10-10.5min , infantry is 9.5 if i remember corrently. Once your over 30 u get another .5 min added to ur time the older u get the long u get to complete it in etc. beening that i dont know ur age 13 mins maybe rite bud. If not keep working at it bud. Change the running routine so it keeps ur mind alert and short sharp run will cut ur time down further
  16. .... Mis read, ill keep you in mind bud thanks for letting us know
  17. Oim no hill billy hick!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!
  18. I know im new on this forum, but what ive seen is that everyone on here helps out any problems in anysort of way, being that a quick call to a mate or getting hands on. Steve and his team has done a great job with this site, the t-shirts that i love the apps and bring in companies that effect are working lifes, and finally the vast array of other tree huggers with fountains of knowledge. Were a large mixed group so what mite be funny or important to others may not be to the next. But were all still here ready to lend a hand or info to the next arborist. Othersites have failed yet this one continues to grow, and i personally tell others to join or to at least have a look. I wouldnt do so if i felt this was a 2nd rate forum
  19. Ive not been put in a gd mood this morn, so mailed him and told him to take the pics off or further actions eill be taken lol
  20. Lol gd luck bud with it, but as the lads have said id Keep It Simple (Stupid) being the saying. I was glad to have Kept it to just 1 12mm climbing rope and a couple of prussics to complete the 38 as ur mind can go all over the place when ur wanting to get te guy down safely. Once hes mastered it see if theres other climbers that wouldnt mind showing u other climbing tec with there kit get ur lad to try and see how he gets on. Im still on prussic and vt at the min lol
