  1. What weight is it? What engine is in it? I may well fancy a trip south...
  2. I don't mean to be offensive, but... I'm not a racist, but... I know it's not allowed, but.... But what? You are above or beyond the rules? Always puzzles me, statements like that. It does seem that for wood there may be exceptions to the "Please use Arbtrader--close thread" rule?
  3. The Mighty and Wise Holy Google teaches us that it is most likely derived from/associated with the weapon, Pike. As used to "encourage" to move unwanted travelling people on their way...
  4. A bastard is simply a son born out of wedlock, like many normal words like Hag, Bitch, Crone, Gay, Jessie, pig and many more it is just a normal word that can be used out of context to indicate a meaning other than it's actual meaning. The word you were intending to use has none but a discriminatory meaning and is solely used to hurt and offend? Just my guess mind...
  5. Small gas bottle (many sizes out there, just look on the verge) cut the head of and weld a normal 1/2" thread on it, then you can just fit whatever connections, valve, hoses etc you want on it. I doubt you'd be able to break it with a normal compressor and it'll hold plenty of air to blow some saws down. Having said that, I wouldn't go through the trouble and just clean my machines when I'm back home as and when needed.
  6. I think the amount of shrinkage in a log can never be matched by a steel band, it would not have enough "spring" to stay tight. I'm no metallurgist though...
  7. +1, I wouldn't go into Grimsby if I got paid any less than £200 so it's £200,99 too much.
  8. Nope, they'd need to be dried first before fitting the hoop, and it's when drying that it cracks.
  9. Don't know enough about anything really, but would a sounding hammer not have picked up the decay easily. I'm fairly certain a few taps on the oak in that vid would have made it's condition a bit clearer.
  10. If you've tried a carb reset properly, and it didn't work then do the following. Next time it acts like a pig, take the air filter off and look at the little pipe that comes out into the righthand side of the filter holder bit. If it dribbles fuel or looks like it has recently you have a tank breather issue. The tank breather vents into the inlet so when it functions less than perfectly it causes the saw to overfuel hence run badly/cut out. The carb can do nought to compensate for it has not the capacity to understand the air contains fuel already.
  11. Cannon for east of England, they have several options I think, this one is 60ft and only .8m wide. Cannon Access specialist platforms omme 2750 for hire
  12. My fillpartner (am I the only one that thinks the name and the shape were somewhat unfortunately chosen?) has not failed me once, it is far better made than the husky, oregon and stihl offerings though I've not tried this new husky one yet.
  13. Only you have all the answers really. How much work do you think there is to do? How many hours per week will it take you? How many weeks will he want you to do that for? Together with: how much do you charge per hour? So you should be able to work out a sum, then you have to decide whether that sum is more or less than you'd be willing to pay for said mower. My guess is that you'd be better of just taking the hit now and start earning money not repaying favours.
  14. Similar plantings to yours here Marko, but also growing Italian alder as windbreak, cherry (very fast growing so far) robinia, walnut, larch, lime (more for wildlife and craft), sweet chestnut and some random individual specimens here and there. I had planted some more softwoods, but most of those didn't take.
  15. Apart from what's mentioned above what would you have done? I run/ran an ms180, 650, 880 and 660, a husky 346xpg, 550xp, 365xt and 372xt. All happy on Aspen, most from new but not all. The 210 would run well and tune up OK, then after an hour it would start cutting out. I've read on several fora the 210 is a but odd and some just won't drink aspen? Not a clue why not though.
  16. I had one since '03 or so and it's still going well. I gave it to my neighbour a couple of winters ago as his ms180 was struggling with the 14" bar and I was well and truly fed up with the blimmin thing as it would not run on Aspen. went back to shop 5 times, got all new carb kit, all hoses, filter and breathers and yet it would not run well on Aspen!. Neighbour has been using it a fair bit on petrol mix and it's been faultless. (felling and cutting up firewood for two households, all sawing as he hates axes...) I wouldn't give more than £75-£100 for it though as it's been 211 for a few years already so it can't be less than 5 years old?
  17. Looks to me like the trailer is not loaded? (based on tyres, and the wheels off the ground in the first pic?) Got to be a case of user error, they must have humans working there or something:001_smile:

    Help

Wear gloves:001_tt2: And welcome to the forum. Stihl chainsaws are not all the same, what model is it? And what have you done to try and get the clutch off (spinning it by hand?, impact driver?, big screwdriver+hammer?)
  19. I dont get it? You bought a new saw, from a dealer I presume? not a bloke down the pub? Then why on earth would you do anything other than take it back to be fixed or exchanged by said dealer when a problem arose? You fixed it yourself, but without understanding why it went wrong the first time how can you expect it not to go wrong again? I hope I'm missing something here, otherwise I'd say it's really bad form to then come on here and have a moan at Husqvarna.

    Gtw

Put a turntable chipper on the back of your truck, you can fit quite a big one as fuel tank, battery, whole trailer chassis etc are not needed or can be shared with the vehicle. Have it setup so you can blow chip 360 degrees to account for when you have to back in and have trailer to the front etc. There should be enough payload left for you and all your tools. Tow a tipping chip trailer. Buy a cs100 or similar for jobs you cannot get the vehicle near. Sorted. 2.5t plus payload.

I'm completely confused about what your question is. Are you asking if it's ok to overload your towing vehicle if you're only pulling a little trailer?

  23. The big difference isn't in the filter, rather what happens before that. On Husky saws the air spun round by the flywheel fans gets cut in half by a plastic bit. The outside will have most of the sawdust in it due to the centrifugal force. The inside (much cleaner air) gets fed to the filter.
