  1. Just needed that assurance Thanks @pleasant are right.and @GarethM thanks for the insight.
  2. 2015 model seems ok but should I replace regardless? On other saws it was obvious the rubber AV was on the way. This saw not so obvious. In the grand scheme it'll add maybe £15-20 to parts bill. Don't want to be wasteful though.
  3. Hi All, In the past I have purchased failed rails /posts by the cord / tonne / whatever. I'm looking at next years supply and can't find any of the usual chaps selling. Anyone out there harvesting wants to sell a few tonnes? 3 or 4 x 2 tonne loads. Maybe more? Bob
  4. My headset has finally given up. Do I buy another pair or is there an decent alternative people use? I like the long life battery. The sound quality on calls is good. Used mainly on log splitter work and ground saw firewood production.

    Ms261c porting

Is that an M-tronic 261? Could you PM me a guide price please?
  6. Good point. Hadn't thought about it that deeply. I have a pension available at 60 (3 years time). I do plan to slow down as recently I've had a few mates around my age die or be diagnosed with life limiting illness. Not being greedy, just want to enjoy the rewards of working solidly since leaving school at 16. On the other side of things.. The current company I work for, has developed an apprenticeship programme. Nothing like the apprenticeship I had, but an effort nonetheless. There ought to be a young workforce to continue IF they can afford to live , eat and commute to the job. A whole different thread completely.
  7. Can't price them as as well as a regional thing it'll be down to your outlays/overheads and how desperate you want them gone. Saying all that I have sold smaller boards on ebay and I've also registered on Woodlots and https://timbermarket.co.uk/ So far for me eBay has been best, still get some tw@ts and I'm always careful to not include too much of my kit laying around in any for sale pics. Good luck.
  8. You know what? Thats not what I meant to type... bloody hell. But now you've picked it up it does make I laugh. Been a tough weekend. Needed a lift. Cheers @trigger_andy :-)
  9. You'll maybe find the thread in the milling section. Again, good luck.
  10. For boards its a year per inch form Outside to Centre. Good luck as I've never been able to get a dick to not split. There is a thread here somewhere where there was a lot of experimentation and hard work and technical description as t why the inside shrinks but due o the circumference shrinking the same % it would inevitably split and go pacman. Good luck.
  11. Cheers, eventually found it. Stihl MS 261 chainsaw 16 inch 3/8 bar rim sprocket and 3 chains upgrade kit new WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Cutting performance increases by about 20%. 12. I'd prefer they were randomly drugs and alcohol tested. The decisions they make and vote on are all about our wellbeing and future, to have that compromised or swayed because they are intoxicated or under the affects of illegal substances is worse than lying.
  13. Yes I've been burning since Mid Sept. Little fires in one of 2 small wood burners- lounge. Heating still off till Nov1 unless I can eke it out a bit longer. Can't abide paying for LPG especially as it's gone up so much. Mrs is good about it....luckily. Roll on Apr 2023 when the heating goes off and Summer is round the corner. :-)
  14. Looks good. On my mill i have the chainsaw head on top as it doesn't foul the job. If that makes sense? You'll probably just have to turn it round and face the other way. Excellent job though.
  15. I made apple wine out of the loads we had from our little tree. Branches nearly touching the ground under the weight. Wine results to be seen in a few months.

    Saw upgrade

If F R Jones site is right. They have no mail order 661's but a head uit available to collect from Swanley. If that helps. ?
  17. Done it a few year back. Between the preservatives added there was a fair amount of fire retardant in there. Without reading the codes on the wood...if they were on that offcut it was a fruitless task. ~~Happy to be proven wrong. p.s. I'm at work too!
  18. A few years back in the Forest of Dean I went in to the local coal mine. It followed the exposed coal and descended slowly for a few hundred feet. Entrance looked very similar. Although Sod Hut is more likely.
  19. You are bang on. The splitting is easy, even fun. The bending to collect and stack, not so.
  20. Same when using the axe. The whole repetitive process allows you to think of other things. Much like I was doing distance swims. Robot mode freed the mind up to have a separate train of thought..
  21. I had a chap being a bit of a tool about the required size of his logs. Managed to settle him down after asking how large the grate as. 14" he said. Oh, no says I, I have been cutting Metric logs, that'll be the problem. Where does the madness end?
  22. Hopefully this won't upset anyone on here....i.e poster isn't a site member. If they are, all credit to you. I'll have to try it myself, using sustainable and renewable isn't enough. :-) 2kg bag Organic grown old growth pear fruit wood chunks. Fuel. Vegetarian Vegan WWW.EBAY.CO.UK Organic grown old growth pear wood chunks fuel. Ready to use no bark. when the house was new. Pizza oven. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
  23. I put oil in first for the same reasoning. Let the fuel mix it up. As you say a good shake up in the truck won't harm it. Re; accuracy. The can's swell and contract but ought to be close. As you've oiled 4.5 -4.75 litres it'll just be marginally oilier say 45to47:1 which has to be better than running it lean on oil. Yes?
  24. This exactly.
  25. Your Eco Mill can be adjusted down to fit the 28" bar. I wouldn't think you'll damage it. The clamp at the head end will be on solid bar. The nose end you need to come back away from the sprocket on to the solid bar. I imagine you'll get 22-4" odd of cut. Yes get a longer bar if you want, a 36" will still only get 30 maybe 32" cut. You'll need to take the dogs off (felling spikes) to really make the most of either bar. A proper ripping chain from chainsawbars will give a smoother finish but your normal full chiz will give decent results that will just need a bit of tidying t get a nice finish. I used a GB 42" lo-pro on an eco mill and had a true 36" cut. Not cheap if you are just doing a few cuts. Have a look at @Rob D chainsawbars website. It's absolutely loaded with info and you-tube "how-to" vids. Happy Milling
