  1. Thanks Stubby:thumbup: It is really kind of you to go to the effort of posting that. I am quite touched:blushing: I can completely understand people being cautious. I am asking people to take a huge leap of faith- to come and work alongside someone they have never met, doing a job they may not be familiar with in a place they don't know with no absolute guarentee they can earn what they need to! Definitely not a decision to be taken lightly! There is plenty of 'romance' to working in the woods, but as a lot of you will know doing it commercially involves a lot of strenuous labour, discomfort, repetition and frustration. For me, the joy of being in that ever changing environment and contributing to its rejuvination easily outweighs the negatives, but this won't be the case for everybody. Not wanting to put anyone off though, cause it will probably be bloody brilliant. I have had some great responses from people via PM's and I look forward to meeting them soon. Anyone else, give it some hard thought and do get in touch if you'd like, and remember there's no harm in just coming to have a look. I'm always up for a walk in the woods:biggrin:
  2. Just had it confirmed Egg. Mrs Idiot was indeed eternally grateful for the assistance with the pump. She can't pot up the icecream without it. You saved the day!
  3. Thanks Egg:thumbup: I suspect you probably got us out of a pickle there. Should have added free ice cream to the Woodland job description!
  4. Small world eh Mr Egg? As far as I know the lobe pump is doing grand. Mrs Idiot is in Sheffield at the moment but I'll ask her when she gets back
  5. Hi Bren, I've not tried Neal Stephenson, I'll give him a go, thanks for the tip:thumbup:
  6. Here's the real idiot! Burning ambitions - Homes & gardens - EADT Suffolk Magazine Part of an article from this months Suffolk Magazine
  7. Yes Smiles I've had a few:thumbup1: Some chap called Arzgarth Death-Deliverer wanted to come and do some spoon carving.
  8. Thanks Stubby. Not sure I'm really helping my quest to find a work partner though. People are going to be wondering what they would be letting themselves in for:biggrin: I'm actually no weirder than your average woodland worker and don't dabble in the occult or fantasy worlds, although I do enjoy Terry Pratchett:thumbup:
  9. Quite right John, and as I think I've mentioned before, really forward thinking of them adding the receipt spike to the top of the helmet. Keeps them all together in a nice handy place:thumbup1:
  10. Wizards!! I bloody knew it:thumbdown:
  11. Not yet Egg! I am making progress though. I'm pretty darn sure it's got something to do with prime numbers:thumbup1:
  12. To be fair Jon, it probably does cost a fair bit to keep a bear:thumbup:
  13. Tsk! These people who want work right on their doorstep:001_rolleyes: No one's prepared to commute any more. Seriously though treeman, appreciate the message:thumbup:
  14. Don't worry Egg, Smiles is a bit weird. The woods can do that to you after a while. I'm just a normal kinda guy.
  15. To be honest I think you'd have looked a bit silly without it.
  16. Found this old one of you Smiles, pre vest.
  17. There's no fruit flies here in the alps, just beer and champagne and charcoal burners on their 4 month winter booze up. The only mountains I'll be experiencing for the next 4 months are those mammoth log piles you've left me after your superb work around the pond!
  18. Time flies like an arrow John Fruit flies like a banana
  19. By all means, although hopefully I'll have somebody in my clutches by then.
