  1. No blog or website I'm afraid. I'll endevour to post some more pictures in the new year, so long as you don't mind images of me moving sticks from one place to another which is what I do the majority of the time:thumbup:
  2. Nowt wrong with sounding like an idiot Countryboy me lad! A Swedish/Norwegian/Finnish/Canadian/Cockfosters Candle is simply a seasoned log ripped down most of its length into 4 or 6 wedges. Stuff some birch bark or a firelighter in the top and apply fire. The candle burns down and from the inside out. Great for parties, you can cook on them too:thumbup: I suspect Mr. Bren is an authority on the subject.
  3. Thanks Sandspider. Good luck with your plans, sounds exciting! Excellent signature quotes too:thumbup:
  4. It will still hit , but mindful meditation will help give you the tools for seeing it for what it actually is. A passing thought which if not engaged with will get bored, bugger off and leave you in peace:thumbup:
  5. These guys are really hurting Ty, as I'm sure you were too at the time. Please don't put them off posting, we may be able to help.
  6. This tells the story, and provides plenty of food for thought. http://www.forestryjournal.co.uk/newsitefiles/2008/Treewood.pdf
  7. They haven't figured out lightbulbs in Essex:)
  8. I've just been using the Norway Spruce I took out of Raydon Wood as I couldn't think of anything else to do with it. Have done a couple of Ash ones plus a Hornbeam and a Red Oak. All worked well. I've sold loads of them through the farm shop but have never got round to offering them elsewhere. I am truly terrible at sales work! Did manage to sell 75 to Big Fish and his soon to be son in law Lewis (aka Fandango Fines-fiddler the third). Lewis runs the woodland products arm of Treewood Harvesting.
  9. None in me Bren, but plenty on me! I add a couple of dry sticks when the flames die down, gets them going a treat.
  10. Hi Nigel, you are quite right. The chap in the photo is Jake (little) Fish, he and his dad John (big) Fish are Treewood Harvesting. Brilliant guys, (although John is a complete fruitcake), and a thoroughly professional outfit. I got them in to do the conifers this year as the previous contractors completely trashed the place. They also buy most of my charcoal!
  11. Must be those superb quality Ash logs you managed to source this year Ben;)
  12. Swedish Candles, you can't beat them!
  13. Just thought I'd try it as an experiment. Boiled the storm kettle in about 10 seconds:)
  14. The cabin came from a firm near me called Taylors Garden Buildings. They make them to your spec. I don't think they are much different from what you could get elsewhere in the UK. I bought it in 2006 and I think it was about £1800 including 2 guys to deliver and put it up. Me and Mrs Idiot did the insulation and cladding.
  15. The outer walls are only about 20mm, but it is clad on the inside and the walls are insulated although I haven't got around to the roof yet. Without the Morso on it would be bloomin' freezing. With the Morso you have to open all the windows and the door! There is 240V so you can always have supplementary heat if needed.
  16. Hi Paul, Been down at Idiot Acres today. Have got your room ready for your visit in the Spring:001_smile:
