  1. While that particular wrap is a "USA" wrap, it is based off of the Stihl 3/4 wraps. Another company actually makes full wraps. Lemme see if I can find a pic... Please hold... I forget the name of the company that makes those, though. If you look behind the beech, past the round I cut off so we could shut the gate, you'll see I cut about 6" of a buttress off. That was solely so I could fit the wrap while putting the face into the tree with the dogs into the wood. So, it can be a bit of a pain at times. But the majority of the time falling, it allows you to use both sides of the tree more easily. And I also feel it allows you to make your cuts more straight on the off side as well since you can easily hold the saw in front of you.
  2. Not in work - that's before my time. I have used them at gatherings and for firewood bucking of huge trunks. It is not what I would call a fun saw to use.
  3. Nah. It's just a Pro Mac 800. 80cc. 200 PSI from the factory. They had grunt.
  4. Yes - it easily pulls that bar, even in oak.
  5. I would be amazed if even an 090 could generate enough kick back to bring a 5-6' bar back around and into yourself.
  6. Almost forgot to drop these in here: Mastermind ported Stihl 044, PNW set up w/ HO oiler, HO clutch cover, and wrap handle.
  7. I've only ever seen 9 tooth 325 sprockets used for milling.
  8. Where did you get your weight specifications? I have yet to see a manufacturer weight spec that was close to the actual weight of the saw ready to cut without bar and chain. Most are wildly optimistic. Niko and I get our information from the data we collect on another site by actually weighing the complete power heads themselves. I host the images here: Neal Murphy's Chainsaw Weight Gallery Photo Gallery by WYK at pbase.com
  9. Yeah. That particular wrap is a 'USA' Handlebar model(I think it's the guy's initials). He literally works out of his garage in Washington State somewhere. Madsens is the main supplier...when they have them in stock. The demand is silly for them in the PNW. It just happened to come with this saw. Welcome To Madsen's Online I was fearing I would have to spend that 375 on a beater and then have to make it right, port it, and then get her set up for felling - so I was expecting 550 or more spent. This worked out well. Customs was the big gamble, though. But he had everything but the jug off of the saw. A bud was watching me put it all together and saying I looked like a kid at Christmas with a KNEX set.
  10. Oh yeah. I was busy looking for a 440 or 044 in the UK, Germany, and Ireland for months. Nearly all I was seeing were beaters. When a good one came up, it was a non HD filter set up without the high discharge or wrap for silly money in any halfway decent condition. So when Randy put up a bunch of his personal saws for sale to finance his cattle side bidniss, I took interest. He told me it was heavily ported, recently fully rebuilt, and fully set up for felling work PNW style. What really had me was when he asked for £375. I jumped on it.
  11. She's arrived. The upper transfer ports inside looked huge from the exhaust port. Randy only removed whatever came apart with a t27 besides the jug, and then posted it as a 'parts saw'. Customs ignored it, so thanks for that. I was lazy and didn't want to tear her down, so I just threw the parts on for a pic. If I had to, I would say she feels lighter than my old 2165 even with the full wrap and high discharge clutch cover. Randy says to peg her at 14,200 and go cutting. So we'll see. I have a 24" and 30" bar for her. I am curious to see how she pulls the 30.
  12. Sounds like the timing is very retarded. But what do I know. In other news, Randy's finger ported 044 has arrived at my door step. I'll grab some pics tomorrow in day light.
  13. Joe, Great to hear yer happy with yer saw. Afraid I have bad news, though. Stateside we've poked around with the exhaust on the 461 and have found it makes almost no difference at all. The 461 has a unique system of scavenging it's exhaust that basically makes any mods ineffective unless it is ported. The good news is it is a strong saw! Once the bottom end and the rings break in, you'll be very happy. You still carving on occasion? Wes
  14. The 555 is out now as well. It's a slightly de-tuned version of the 560xp at a bit more agreeable price. Husqvarna 555 Petrol Chainsaw

    Which Sthil

Stick with the 261CM. Get the Stihl 16" bar(it measures 15" from chassis to tip) for the cert tests requirements, and don't look back. I used a 16" bar for my first cert.
  16. It's just sad. Many coking issues have little to do with fuel mix, but everything to do with the choked up exhausts.
  17. It explains how they get massive gains out of a 562 once ported.
