  2. You would buy it because it was one of the more affordable 3/8 chain available at the time. Since you would be grinding on it, you wouldn't bother starting with square chisel. RS is out, the teeth stand shorter than it does on Oregon chain. Oregon chain, with the taller teeth, have more chip clearance. In any case, that was to show you the basics of how to make a chain faster. I would assume most would get the idea.

  4. On a 40-50cc saw, you could try and run pixel/NK/Narrow kerf chain in 325. It is nearly the same kerf as lo pro, but uses much large 325 teeth.
  5. It would be a hell of a lot slower, and the oiler would have difficulty keeping the heat down on the bar. Piltz are all marketing and little substance.

  7. He is cutting hemlock(Tsuga heterophylla) in that vid - it is about as dense as noble fir at best. He is also using low pro chain on a narrow kerf bar. And judging by the size of the chips, the chain appears to have been massaged. Here's a 357 slicing thru it like butter. I've fallen hundreds of them myself, and bucked even more. Here's one a bit more mature.
  8. There is no governor in AT or MTronic saws. Technically, no rev limiter either. The electronics control the solenoids. See Eddy's post. As for power, if there was none to gain, why would we bother? The last 261CM I ported was 42% faster with the bar buried in wood. The last 241CM I did was 30% faster. Hell, even just modding the muffler on the 261, you get huge gains. I work with huge trees all day long, processing for furniture or firewood, on a large estate. Ain't got no time for hauling around a 660 or 880. My back is old, but my arms are young, too. This ported 044 is a god send:
  9. That's why you want to piss in to a crosswind. Just not TOO much of a crosswind.
  10. The EL46 carbs can be reset. The owners manual explains it. They will deliver plenty of mixture to a ported 560/562. My problem was actually getting too much mix at idle in the WTF series used on the 241 MTronic. Though this saw seems to have had that issue long before it was ported.
  11. Porting has been around since two stroke engines have been around. If you don't get it, consider yourself lucky. You just saved yourself some duckets. Hell, we haven't even mentioned nitrous yet...
  12. At least you didn't do a hard sell on testing this thing with 'Stihl Diagnoostics Computahz" for 50 euro. I don't need to spend 50 euro for them to tell me I need a new carburetor...for only another 199 euro plus 70 installation, and another 50 to test it.
  13. Well, yes and no. I have a vid, but the bar is so worn, and the metering is off on the carb, it really doesn't do it justice. I just ordered some mtronic carb parts(and am told I am the first person to ever do so - including the stihl dealer themselves). So we'll see how it goes.   22. At least they will sell them to you. I wanted two drivers from my local guy. What does he tell me? "I won't sell you the tools. I'll retune the carbs for you for 20 Euro". I told him that's exactly why I want to buy the tools - the reason I want those drivers is so I don't have to pay 1,000 Euro/HR for saw work! I need a few parts, but I am gonna wait for a bit before I go back. He didn't look too happy when I said that. But wtf was I supposed to say?

    After using a 261 CM with a muff mod. I'm not sure I'd bother with a 362 unless it was heavily ported.
