  1. I've got one and I use it but still prefer body thrust
  2. It's the holding my weight thing that I struggle with hence why I prefer body thrust prussic but to move around the tree I prefer Hc distel I know it seems pointless but my progress getting up the tree is much better
  3. Ive had an idea it's probably nothing new for most of you and I stand the risk of being shot down but here it is! I climb with a hitchclimber and distel or sometimes vt but I struggle with the ascending! I can pull myself up with the pull hold tend the slack method but I would rather body thrust!! I've tried the o rig which is awesome! But having to take it apart to navigate branches or change tip is a bit slow! I also tried a sling from my bridge to the bottom krab to get the hitchclimber away from me so I can body thrust this also works well but you need to take out the sling to bring the hitch in close to you again for normal use! My idea is this...... I simply put a prussic above my distel then clip it to the middle hole on the Hc, I then grab some slack from in-between the hitch and prussic and body thrust on the prussic, stop every so often to tend slack under Hc and carry on! Once you've got to where you want to be whip the prussic off and off you go! I welcome your criticism
  4. No not particularly high but I do alot of rec climbing alone and the last thing I want to do is risk my rope getting caught up using it as a throwline!
  5. Could you use a Sirius ring loop instead of the dmm thimble
  6. I carry a small stuff bag with throwline in it but I'm fed up with stuffing it back in after use so was trying to come up with somthing that can retract after use
  7. Does anyone else use a throw line to advance there climbing line? I made this today to try to and see if it would work! It did but only holds 15ft of line has anyone else made one that can accommodate more line?
  8. Just under the Chest It's no higher than on my treemotion ring when sat in it
  9. I bought my daughter a petzl full body harness, my worry with sit harness is kids like to hang upside down so give that extra security to know they won't slide out!
  10. I'm thinking of buying one, are they worth the money?
  11. I would just like to say thankyou to Martin for pulling out all the stops with getting my new boots to me quickly, top service!! My misses is well gutted that she's not going to get a Honey brothers T shirt tho!
  12. You could put a pulley above the knot and attach your throw Line to the Beckett that way if you hold the tail of the rope pull on the throwline/ pulley that will break the knot and you can control the descent,
  13. Yes I see what you mean! But if I made her hitch just out of reach so that she can pull the tail of her rope but I advance the hitch, without the worry of her grabbing the knot and dropping! other thought was create a RADS system with my handled ascender and a revolver off of that, I can then advance the ascender as she gets to it.
  14. I get the self advancing on your own line but what if I wanted to advance her hitch as I climb?
  15. Does anyone have any good setups for young children? My 5 year old daughter is showing interest in tree climbing, she has her own full body harness and helmet, I've tried her with a blakes closed system and a foot loop but she struggles to push the blakes hitch up as she advances the rope! I was thinking if I put a pulley under her knot then attach a length of prussic cord to the pulley then my rope or hitch climber then as I climb it should advance her hitch? I can then use the same setup to bring us down in an arieal rescue setup
  16. I'm following
  17. Hope this works! This is my Larson trap trip stick tip!
  18. Congratulations
  19. And if there is only one perch they don't tend poo in there feed bowl! if you place it at opposite end to the perch
  20. That's the idea! I move my traps once a week even just moving them a few meters can catch a crow that you are struggling to catch
  21. I must also add that if the trap has a decoy bird in it but isn't set to catch then that is also illegal!! Because it's not intended as an Avery, once set it's legal
  22. The trick to keep the decoy bird alive is feed them on a complete dog biscuit just the cheap stuff, I buy the rabbit water/feed bowls made of china because there too heavy for the crow to tip over, then I put a handful of dog biscuits in then pour water in with them this makes them softer for the crow/magpie you must also have a separate water container for fresh water!! Once I've caught my decoys they stay alive until I've finished with them, i might lose the odd one in 4 months due to the rain and the cold but thats it!The dog food has everything the birds need to keep them healthy.i also have another tip regarding the trip sticks for the trap I'll get a photo tomorrow if anyone's interested.
  23. Can the Tibloc be shock loaded in Dans setup?
  24. Have you tried the o rig Dan? It's the same concept but you can use distel vt just slide your hitch up the rope to body thrust then slide it back down for normal use.
  25. Yes perfectly legal as long as the decoy bird has food water shelter and a perch! however! you can't drive around with a decoy bird in a trap as its not an Avery! also you must dispatch the trapped birds away from the decoy bird! and with all traps must be checked at least once every 24 hours.
