  1. Honda GX390 on my Opico Skidster. Took the key start box off to get the fuel tank off. Cleaned tank, back together, starts on the key as normal, runs fine. Doesn’t turn off with the key. Googled it. Prime suspect some wire under the tank that goes to the magneto. Pulled tank back off, recoil and engine cover off, all looks in order. Switch box apart. All looks in order. Cleaned various contacts, scraped paint from inside of holes in frame where key box mounts. No joy. Suggestions?
  2. A pretty organised homeowner I’ve climbed for a few times now said the first time that I worked for him that he had a chipper. I internally rolled my eyes. He then produced one of those pretty good, top end of the bottom end ones. A bit bigger than a Timberwolf 13/75. Worked brilliantly on several jobs. And the one time I forgot my saw batteries freelance climbing, the end client luckily happened to have five of the Stihl pro series ones.
  3. I went through solid boxes and trolleys. Ended up with 20 and 40l Aldi dry bags. Hard boxes, barrels etc don’t sit on barrows, machines etc as well. Everything in one place is a lovely idea but small, light, spread out works for me.

I also had a Toolstation one on me at the time but didn’t want to lower the tone.
  5. In English we call them children.
  6. What’s a drink these days? If I had to guess, “a drink” would be £20 (£10 for something extremely simple) and, “a good drink” would be £50.
  7. I have a couple of bits of laburnum firewood on the mantlepiece. Occasionally chip a bit off for tool handle wedges. Just a nice thing to do.
  8. Can I use water and salt?
  9. Very little subbing. Extremely useful on my own jobs. Exactly the direction I didn’t want to go but there it is.
  10. It’s actually had a hard ish week. Some little governor spring broke so it’s been running with a light hunt. Going to do the valves just in case as well.
  11. I washed it and it’s getting a service tomorrow. What more could it demand.
  12. We screamed at each other only an hour ago as it happens.
  13. Do Sherpas have a drain hole in the frame? Skidsters don’t.
  14. Some friends just dropped in unannounced with a bottle of wine.
  15. Nothing that hedonistic I’m afraid. A few polite guests made polite conversation while I threw brash on. Drank some beer and ate some chicken wings. Carriages at about ten. We did all bugger the smallest boy towards the end of the evening. I was meant to be at a rugby thing for that in the morning but it was cancelled.
  16. The mighty little Skidster managed to roll a blazing yacht over earlier. #arbwork
  17. I was thinking more along the lines of disbanding HMRC or the police but we can go with your suggestion for now. doobin, draft a letter.
  18. Belongs in the stunt fell thread. Nice buildings. Cornwall?
  19. What are people doing for saw carrying? I'm putting it on the operator's platform atm. Bent the bar when I rolled it. I'll bend it again catching the bar driving past something. Show me your holsters.
  20. I want to get away from .325 as well. Pretty much the same reason(s) as you. My 18” 251 is the only saw I have on it. One option is to sell that and replace with a 20” 400 on proper 3/8 but I hardly use it as it is. My 220 battery saw is 16” 3/8 picco. Hardly need the petrol saw. I’m about half way through a mini forestry job and have about three tonnes of cherry roadside. All done on battery power so far.
  21. I concur. A lot more stuff on a Microbull. Some more capability but a lot more stuff.
