  1. Yes that's what he said. The A540 is 1200kg so 1250kg for the ST8 is good. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  2. I use Jameson poles. Although I must admit I have BigShot and RopeKnight on top! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  3. I used it yesterday. I'd definitely buy one because it's an excellent product and Redwood provide excellent support. IMO those are the two elements that will cost you the most, if you buy the wrong chipper.
  4. I ordered two bars and two chains. They arrived quickly, well packaged and with a free sharpening kit thingy. Great service even without the freebie.
  5. Still using it Ger. Definitely makes it better.
  6. I should add from my post earlier that I have a Jensen A540di so I'm able to make a direct comparison. The ST8 is basically like taking an A540di and making all the improvements you'd want. Oh, and for the guys that think a transparent fuel tank is the closest thing to God, the ST8 has one!
  7. You could take the hopper off the ST8 but it still won't fit through a gate. It's an 8" chipper therefore a bit wider than the ST6.
  8. I just had a demo of the ST8. Not much I can say really. It's a scaled up version of the ST6 with a really good sized hopper. We didn't have anything very interesting to put through it but it will obviously do the job just as it's supposed to. I'd buy one. I asked Matt why the infeed is 8x10" and not wider. He said that if the infeed is too wide, relative to everything else, flex on the flywheel can occur. Makes perfect sense of course which is why when chippers get big, they become drum chippers. Anyway, really good solid well thought out chipper. I don't think there's anything else on the market that can match the build quality at the size. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  9. Yes, I use tap water to make my ice cubes.
  10. Apparently a Sugihara bar will available soon but I can't wait so I ordered some bars and chains from Rob D.
  11. It will.
  12. I've done it and hated it. It just makes a fairly uncomfortable job a rather painful job. As others have said, use a smaller saw to make cuts on the trunk then get the big saw sent up. It sounds like it will waste time and is a hassle but actually it saves a massive amount of effort.
  13. I need another groundsman but could be a groundie/climber. Position could be part or full time and pay is dictated by your ability to do the job well. Call Al on 07834 414271 or PM me. Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  14. I now need another groundsman, full or part time. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  15. That is seriously blunt. It puts more strain on the rest of the machine and the bearings won't last as long. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  16. Too much of a hurry to film it Mark. That's why I did it BIG! Lol! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  17. Melted it good and proper. Also melted the groundies gloves and he's moaning about a sore big toe. Wuss! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  18. For me, durability and performance are more important than the weight. Having said that, my choice of chipper is based upon: 1. Customer support. 2. Chipping capacity. I don't want logs so an 8" chipper is the minimum for me. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  19. Any mistreatment of gear is viewed as an attempt to sabotage my business and my ability to support my family. Therefore it demonstrates the perpetrators inability to retain their job. Know wot I mean?! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  20. Thanks Rob. I'll be ordering a few things later. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  21. Has anyone got one on their saw? Where did you get it? Does it fit/work well. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  22. I'd put my money there too, if I was a betting man. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  23. Is it possible to fit a Sugihara 12" bar on a t540xp? If so, who sells them?
  24. It seems that since I got married I've had all sorts of 'no strings attached' offers! Life's so unfair! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
  25. Around here they wait for £millions of property flood damage to occur. Then they clear the ditches and rivers. Except the important stretch behind my house! Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk mobile app.
