  1. Picked up the MSA 160 on demo this morning, very strange, no vibrations or any idling noise, could get used to this... The power is there on the button, comparable to my 150t in size and weight.
  2. Was it one of these? If so you'll be hard pushed to find anyone willing to sell one, very rarely come up. The one in the pic was on ebay in march and went for £285!!!! There's half a dozen of them in the container at my yard (NOT FOR SALE) like hens teeth.... The expensive ones were made by tt boughton in amersham and specifically forged for purpose I have taken a couple of mine to a fabricator to see if he could manufacture a couple of reproduction ones but as of so far no one has managed to make one of the same strength as the originals.
  3. Am I the only one who's slightly interested in this new tool? My local dealer is giving me a demo machine to trial at the end of next week, so should be interesting to see how it performs...
  4. About the same size as a 150t
  5. Just been to my local dealer today and had a play with the new battery powered topper, has anyone got one yet? If so how do you find it? Does anyone fancy one? I'm quite tempted myself as I do a lot of tree maintenance in nursing homes and hospitals.... Looks and feels quite good on first impressions.....
  6. Very tidy looking saw...
  7. This is the yew in Hedgerley, the graves next to it date from the mid 1600s
  8. Any and all tractor work is charged at £60 per hour, topping, harrowing, rolling, grading, winching etc. so far haven't come across a customer that has objected to the price and I've got repeat business from everyone
  9. It's happened again, got given another stihl saw whilst on today's job! Just clearing up at the end of the day when the customer said they had an old saw in the garage and would I like it as it hadn't been used since his father passed away. Got it home put some fresh fuel in and it started on the second pull! Stihl 08s with chain break, cleanest one I've ever seen, only thing wrong with it is the chain is on backwards....
  10. I've just been to look in some of the woodland I work in to view the trees which have been marked for felling and there are two 24"dbh alder, with a nice bit of burr in the lower sections, nices and straight. Normally most of the timber in this woodland goes for firewood but it seems a waste to log up a couple of decent sized trees. What uses are there for alder and is its worth milling??? It's only about 10m from the road so can be easily extracted.
  11. Had a tidy up in the shed the other day, first time in a while thing have been organised.....
  12. Yep, got the zigzag aswell, was in one of those moods and it was shiney.... Plus I got it for £160.20incl. Vat which seemed better than most other places...
  13. Just gone a got myself a new rope and had a nice surprise when opening the box, a free rope bag.... No mention of it on the box and the last length didn't come with one so that put a smile on my face....
  14. It's a site clearance, an in and out kind of job. Was thinking of cutting into manageable lumps in order to get them out, if I am able to leave the but whole for a couple of days ill go in with the Alaskan at the weekend if anyone would like some slabs....
  15. Hi all, I'm felling a large monkey puzzle tomorrow if any of the timber is of interest to anyone (beaconfield) the tree is almost 3 foot across and dead standing....
  16. From a log off my pile, large diameter hazel (10") just a shame about the shake through the log.... Quite a pretty grain
  17. Live ones.....
  18. The bonus of being my own boss is I can do what I like.... If its a case of getting a closer look at the trade we can have a week of most aspects of it, one day in a domestic situation, one in the woods, can do a day milling and a day on logs.... I have another tree surgeon locally that is happy to take you for a day or 2 aswel. And once a month I volunteer at the local scout camp doing tree work for them....
  19. Hi, apologies for the late response, but I never spend too long online, the offer is still on the table but you need to calm down a bit, jumping to conclusions then posting them is never going to do you any favours.... It was my birthday on the 21st so I went out and had a skinfull so for the whole of yesterday I wasn't feeling the greatest anyway, that and having a row of limes to reduce with a hangover I really didn't feel like replying to my messages... I shall send you a pm later with some details. I have also spoken to another local tree surgeon whom I work closely with an might be able to sort you a couple of days with him in that week aswel. As said before, try and keep calm and don't pester anyone, its never a good thing....
  20. Forgot to say am in south bucks, between slough, uxbridge and Watford....
  21. Hi, if you'd be willing to stay in a caravan for a week I'd be happy to come pick you up and bring you down this way for some work, I have plenty on and can always do with an extra pair of hands....
  22. Retail mine at £4 a net, 3 for £10... Wholesale at £2.75 a net (50 net pallet minimum) strange year this year, sold maybe only 100 nets at the gate but 3500 wholesale
  23. Both m reg 300tdi
  24. But it's only with commercial vehicles, I can't drive my 300tdi disco van into the lez but I can drive my 300tdi disco car in, both vehicles basically the same.... Just another money making scheme....
