  1. heres the knocker, you can just see the tow hitch- not sure what makes it legal or not?
  2. Thanks for the link Rich, makes interesting reading on other points too- and laid out clearly too.
  3. Good idea, have tightened up the chains as much as they will go, but you've got me thinking I might shorten the length of the opposing one so I can bring it back across even more.
  4. Tractor is 7ft wide, about 8ft including the post knocker. It won't be a problem on dual lane roads, but with the lanes around here I'm worried about someone passing me in a world of their own without seeing the overhang! If I took the hammer off the knocker it would be ok, but is a faff every time I go on the road.
  5. Cheers mate, iv tried searching on google- can't find a thing on side overhand- only rear.
  6. Hmm, I can get the rear wheels arranged so that the wheels are pushed out 3 inches each side ,which would bring the sideways overhang of the implement down to the magic 30cm. If I put a flashing light (like cyclists have ) on the overhang would this count?
  7. Aye- Cannery row was a bit odd, it didn't really have much of a beginning middle and end as such, but I found it enjoyable reading anyway, not a patch on grapes tho!
  8. OK, got a post knocker on my tractor which has a tow hitch on it- trouble is in order to be able to hitch up a trailer the post knocker has to be swund round sideways and hence overhangs the rear tyre sideways by about 14 inches. Fine in a field, but is this legal on a road? Anyone know... Cheers,
  9. Girl with the dragon tattoo, brought East of Eden a few weeks back as I enjoyed grapes of wrath and cannery row so much- yet to start reading it. There was a thread similar to this not long ago and I got loads of books that people reccomended and they were all ace, so obviously good taste in books on here!
  10. Oh right- yes I was aware of the situation regarding using red diesel, I thought you meant that a tractor pulling plant was a grey area in itself. Am I right in thinking that if you have a post 97 license and were to tow a fully laden Ifor Williams trailer using a pickup you are obviously breaking the law, but if your using a tractor (using white diesel too) to pull the same trailer all is OK?
  11. Couldn't agree more to the above post. I'm off the thinking that if your going down the finance route- why risk it on a used machine. I buy all my used gear outright- and from now on all new gear will be going on finance.
  12. Very nice, well done Stevie! Will be keen to see that when you get it fitted with a grab and the other bits, and also how you find the ZTS for grab work. Seeing photos of 3 tonners does rather make me wish I had gone for one instead of my 2 ton but see how we go with that for now!
  13. That'll fit a 5 ton digger in nicely:thumbup1:
  14. Nice, thats a real old girl, let me guess 1985?
  15. haha yes, I saw the ranger grimacing a bit when pulling out where the gate was locked! Stephen, here is my new one (not my actual one) on the right with some sort of grab on, you can see the extra size difference when compared to the tb016 on the right.
  16. Hopefully this Friday- but you know what dealers can be like, just looking at grapple options for it now. Yes indeed, Felix was a pleasure to deal with, hope the ranger got it home okay and you managed to get it of the trailer with out any dramas? Thanks very much for that by the way!
  17. Got so much work for I decided to get a new slightly bigger one and sell mine whilst it was still worth decent money.
  18. the last pic was an arrangement using whatever bits of rope I had in the truck, but I like the idea of a mini timber trailer on ATV tyres towing behind the digger. Incidedntly I was doing a fencing job on the moors last year, the landrover was pulling an ifor flatbed full of fencing stakes and got bogged down, so I hitched the digger up to the trailer and it pulled it out and the rest of the way to the job- I was very impresses for a small machine!
  19. Here they are, this was a job I did for a local tree surgeon, getting all the timber out to the edge of the woods whilst trying to keep mess to a minimum. Pic 3 shows the extraction route which was about 100meters in total and that big sycamore stem was about 2ft diameter freshly felled- she was on the limit with that one! my new digger is basically a beefed up version of the one in the pics with longer reach and more lift. For me the versatility and legalness of moving it with the 4x4 outweighs the pros of a 3 ton.
  20. Stephen- I, going to put a picture up of my old takeuchi Tb016 (which I sold yesterday to a fellow arbtalk member:crying: ) to show what sort of size timber it can lift and also some pics of it in the woods. I think you will be impressed for the size of machine- let me just fire up the laptop.
