  1. Iv always lay up hill if there is a choice, I think most do regardless of what hand they are.
  2. I don't have any finance at the moment, never had but am looking to buy a new digger on 50% finance and was wondering if the work dries up for it how am I able to sell it if I still have outstanding payments. Anyone know? Thanks, Matt
  3. Felix, it sounds like you are going to be using it mostly on an estate, does this mean you won't really be transporting it much? Reason I ask is if you can find one in your budget a 3 tonner will be that much more useful. I love my 1.6t tak but I don't kid myself that if transportation wasn't an issue id get a 3tonner tomorrow. I always find when doing ditches I could do with more reach. And of course you get considerably more lifting capacity (assuming it isn't a JCB:sneaky2:) Just a thought...
  4. I dunno, that can no way be 8 ton as said 4 ton Max and certainly not worth 250 in scrap per ton. Blokes a bit of a dreamer if you ask me!
  5. Door knocking, touting for work, and undercutting competition are one way of doing it:lol: Total cost - £0. In all seriousness, I take it you run a large company because 10k is a hell of a lot of money on advertising, why not try for the next year cutting out YP and any others you expect aren't pulling their weight and see how much difference it make to your profit. I'd have thought by now word of mouth would be your main advertising?
  6. We've been really into ' the walking dead' so iv been thinking about this quite a bit recently. Aside from a large steam roller, the question is would you have 2 top handle, one in each hand or just 1 880 with a 48 inch bar? 2 top handles for me!

Yeah awesome saw, I love that 'bupt bupt bupt' sound it makes when you fire it up!
  8. Iv seen some of the websites that yell.com have done for some of my local competition and its very poor, it looks like the sort of thing a 15 year old might have done for a IT project at school. And they weren't cheap. Anything to do with YP is a waste of money unless you want more people phoning you wanting a job than offering one. To the OP, you say it brings in more money than you spend but that's not the point, 3-4k needs to be a small percentage of what it brings in to be worth having. Because there is plenty of advertising to be had with much more profitable gains. Ie parish rag.
  9. Iv got a tree motion as an upgrade to the willans i had for 7 years. The willans is a more durable harness but the TM is comfier.
  10. Hmm interesting, if not a little disappointing information. I, like you thought the Tb219 would be a good middle ground between the 016 and the 3 tonner, but perhaps the hydraulic system isn't quite uprated enough compared to the extra reach/leaverage and extra weight the larger boom on the 219 has. I'm happy enough with my 016cab model but the extra reach when ditching/general landscaping would be handy, yet I want something that I can still tow comfortably with my landy. Hence the 219 idea. Perhaps back to the drawing board, I'm a bit short sighted in that iv only looked at the offerings from takeuchi and Kubota. Hanix make a 2.2 ton model but resale I would say is likely to be lower, Better get a demo on the 219 though before abandoning that ship!
  11. I think its a case of having to use either the crowd ram or offset boom function- put a t junction into the piping for either function and then turn the tap when you want to use the grab and the controls for either bucket curl or offsetting boom will spin/close the grab. You won't need bucket curl anyway and not likely to need offset using a rotating grab anyway...
  12. Eddie, any experiance with the tb219,?I'm considering buying this model new, slightly heavier and longer reach than the tb016 but not really heard much feedback from it.
  13. I wouldn't agree that kubotas are better built, more comfortable yes, but takeuchis have no plastic casing on like kubota, they are made entirely of metal. Kubotas have more mod cons but Taks are good for that reason simplicity and bulletproof construction.
  14. I'd agree with this to an extent in that a skilled operator can get a mini digger most places but I'd feel vulnerable now I'm so used to expanding tracks, particularly with heavy attachments on- but then a lot of my work tends to be on steep or undulating ground. Iv never tipped my digger, IME you should know way before it goes over and always have the bucket ready to stop you when traversing steep ground, as Doobin said.
  15. Awesome, will it pull 3.5t?
  16. Do you do stock fencing josh? Grappling with barb wire can become a bit tedious sometimes particularly on awkward sites where it all has to be unrolled by hand
  17. I do fair bit of fencing, about 12000 meters of stock fencing a year plus all the post and rail for the equine types- not so much domestic because I prefer the countryside fencing, nice places and work with machinery which tends to spur the job along a bit. Nice work tho Jnoon
  18. Mini diggers have the ability to make a huge amount of money, more than a chipper for example I would say, I'd not look at a chipper with 2000hrs on it but that's about half way through a mini diggers trouble free life. If all the fluids are changed regularly than they usually don't wear out much and have a very high resale value. I pretty much run my business of my mini along with its various attachments (auger, grab and post knocker) I use it for fencing, stock proof and domestic, scrub clearance tree work, stone walling and of course general excavating and landscaping. Best bit of kit I own
  19. Oh yours has the anti gravity function.
  20. T Its still a baby then, iv seen tb016 with over 6000hrs still going strong, mines got 2400 but not much wear at all, greassing every time you use it helps.
  21. Or yanmar engine, they seem to go on and on
  22. Takeuchi Tb016 is what I have with a cab and it has been absolutely fantastic, smooth controls, bullet proof and simple to work on, never had a problem with lack of power. Your budget should buy you a pretty decent one with between 2-3000 hours. Im not decided yet but seriously thinking of selling mine for the new 2 tonner they make so if you do decide on this model PM me- mines a beut! Kubota also make a good machine with excellent resale value, somehow the Tak seems a bigger machine tho when your in it, this could be down to the expanding tracks and longer arm reach?? One thing- don,t get a JCB, appaling machine, totally underpowered hydraulic system, and some have a bent scaffold bar for the boom which looks very mickey mouse. I drove a 3 ton Jcb the other day and id sooner be in my 1.6t tak any day- soo much faster.
  23. But how does this work in the UK given that most I for type trailers are only rated to be 3.5t on overrun brakes? All very well having a meaty truck but what can you tow legally anyway with these trucks.
  24. Sorry I meant to say, I'd say the planer would be easier and possibly quicker to run on a sloppy machine then a grinder, if you could find a place hiring augertorque drive units you could buy the planer attachment use it and sell it on at not much cost to yourself .....
  25. Augertorque make a stump'planer' which would be good on a 7.5t. Probably more accurate and easier to use depending on how much slop is on the slew/pins etc
