  5. Hi all my name is Pat and my company is P Ferrett Tree Services. Im based in sunny Bognor Regis West Sussex. I stumbled across this site a few months ago and its filled a void in my tree surgery life. Im still getting used to conversing with people that dont mind saying their down on their luck because of one thing or another or showing the fruits of their labour. One thing thats struck me more than anything is the friendship that exists between you guys. I know most of the local firms but as we only ever meet on opposing sides of the A27 or in a rush tipping up in stubbs copse (our local waste recycler) theres never the chance to chew the cud and build freindships so Id just like to say thank you for taking in a stranger and giving time to help out others in the trade  Merry christmas everyone
  6. Good on you Mr Catweazle Sir
  7. You can use it in scotland for Roe. If you have to dispatch a wounded animal you can use any means necessary.
  8. Hi Ranger 22-250 Roe ? must be in Scotland
  9. Were cool Screwie! Started shooting when I was about 4, had a paid gun in out a pheasent shoot when I was about 12 or 13 and went from there. My old man died in hospital of blood poissoning through an injury he got whilst doing tree work. He was a 17 stone man mountain and my hero. I didnt shoot for 2 years, I only started up again because I new if the foxes had to be shot that if I did it hopefully they wouldnt know what hit them. Yesterdays history tomorrows a mystery today is a gift thats why its called the present.
  10. So sorry to hear that mate, my thoughts are with you.
  11. As long as its a clean miss
  12. In the last year I ve shot in the region of 10 sqirrels 20 Magpies 40 odd foxes and about 1000 rabbits
  13. I ve been on a few shooting forums over the last few years but the level of knowledge and respect for charlie given on here is of a higher standard, WELL DONE LADS Screwie! I take my hat off to you mate for being a single handed keeper . Im not bending the truth when I say I ve never missed a fox, Im rubbish at most things but I CAN SHOOT A RIFLE. The last time I went out I had 22 rabbits 3 Magpies and 3 adult foxes all from one high seat in 2 hours using the HMR never missed 1 shot, I did miss the last 4 steps coming down the ladder and end up on my arse, See good a one thing rubbish at something else Also use .17 mach2 .22 .243 .270wsm sec1 12g 5 shot semi
  14. Stumbled upon this on the forum and thought It deserves a "BUMP"
  15. I have 2 jobs to get on with in the new year. The phones been dead this month so I caught up for only the second time in 8 years WORRYING! Hay Ho. MUST BE A SUSSEX THING LOL
  16. Good luck one shot one kill
  17. Your dead right Waz77! but please tell me how many foxes the hunt would catch in one season?
  18. Steve! just wonderd if you could get me Millies phone number ? looks quit a tasty bird
  19. As I said I can and do, shoot more foxes in one night with the rifle than a hunt can kill in a week, but I had to when I did a course run by the British Deer society and in their training manual for deer stalkers 2010 on page 221 is said under the title Team Work "Shoot foxes if required/ Dont if the local hunt is active " What it comes down to is that fox hunting isnt a good method of controling foxes and never has been its about money power and tradition. Im telling you and its a fact. The main reason hunting gets as much support as it does is because people that partake in other country persuits where there is thought to be an eliment of cruelty whether its shooting fishing ferreting falconry or what ever, think they will be next on the list (THATS THE BOTTOM LINE ON IT) Saw a good window sticker once that said! "For fox sake stop hunting"
  20. Cheese and ham sandwich in tin foil placed on the exhaust for 5 mins before break is getting me through the day at the moment, I have to make them myself as bird has got a habit of putting coleslaw in them If you cant smell burning its salad for T
  21. A bit of a blonde moment I know, but if most log splitters have got a two way ram why arnt they made so they can split a log on each stroke ????????? Oh if it aint been done then Ive got dibs on the patent:laugh1:
  22. I can and do go out with the rifle and lamp and shoot more foxes in an evening than a hunt would get in a week, I have never shot at a fox and missed, I squeak them into a distance of LESS than 100 yards and dispatch them with 1 well placed shot. The bullet hits them at more than 3 times the speed of sound, their stone dead before they hit the ground. I have a great deal of respect for foxes but they do need to be kept in check. Im sure that you will all agree that if your number was up you d rather be dispatched with a rifle, rather than be chased by men on horse back and a pack of hounds. If your out over christmas BE SAFE and if your not sure dont pull the trigger PS If we could find the scum that keep knicking our tools every time we turn our backs and chase them on horse back ( change that to quad bike) then its a different thing all together:001_cool: Those bar stuards deserve to feel the chewing at their ancles as they go feet first through the jaws of a timberwolf.
