  1. I've noticed some insects coming out to stretch their wings..Fingers crossed there'd be no more freeze-ups.
  2. Hi! Welcome. I'm reasonably new here too
  3. Not so well with the leaners but had a reasonable progress with the straight ones ,thanks:001_smile: Drawing lines really does help a lot! The assessment is on Monday so if anyone has a spare saw, wood and needs a pair of helping hands over the weekend let me know
  4. I'm OK with the gob. It's the back cut that I'm not getting right. It's either to high/low or all other the place! I'm gonna ask my instructor to watch me tomorrow until I do the whole tree. It's always easier for someone else to see your mistakes than your own. Cheers
  5. Shuttelworth College but they take us to Great Offley for felling.
  6. 'If it got hung up did you have the correct safe procedure in getting it down?' we were just told to leave it for the tractor to deal with it if it gets stubborn. I think I just came up with the plan! I'm talking a piece of chalk with me tomorrow
  7. I'm sticking with building up the protective layer of filth i just need to believe in myself then, eh? Thanks guys! All advice taken on board and will give it another go tomorrow. If I fail I'll kick my own arse.
  8. It's the same story here as Themonkian mentioned..we have to tidy everything away. Leaving us no time to practice actual felling very much. Shouldn't they let CS30 do it for us? nope! What is it? I was thinking about cutting higher and then leaving practice on the remaining stump...Not a lot of time left though..The assessment is on Friday and..anyway..it's not about passing..it's about doing things right.. What happens if I fail? Do have to retake the course again? It's a lot of £££...
  9. No and No Thanks for your supportive thoughts guys..I'm just worried that I might end up with a tree over my head..The instructor is kind of there..but not there..(if you know what I mean)..I just need to get that peeeep saw to go where I want as it's got the mind of it's own at the mo We'll be doing leaning trees tomorrow..somehow really not looking forward to it..I know how it supposed to be done but it's simply not happening I'll be one of those rare individuals who fail their test I guess 5 days for 30/31 it's just not enough (I thinks).
  10. Everyone on the course seem to already know what they are doing and have been working with the chainsaws for yonks and here just to get a formal ticket...I'm really disappointed with myself. Trees are falling wrong way, the saw gets trapped, angles only right from my side of a tree and all wrong on the other.. Has anyone else of you went for the course with no experience whatsoever? How did you get on? I'm in a great need for some sympathy here..
  11. love the fluffy ears..very adorable
  12. on that note, how often do you wash your trousers then?
  13. OK I will..I suppose it should help me to pass the course too..Do you think I should spray myself with the petrol and put some oil in my hair for overall effectiveness?
  14. Oh well that's rubbish! Don't tell me I'll have to do my course in a filthy pants!
  15. Hi there! I need my hi-flexes to be dry for tomorrow...The boiler has decided to take a holiday so I have nowhere to dry them. Is it OK to stick them in a tumble dryer or will they shrink? Thanks
  16. they are the most disorganised bunch of people with zero communication between each other I have ever dealt with! I'm starting my course next week and the lass from the office WILL only be posting my confirmation letter tomorrow looks like it's gonna be fun! Bring it on! I'll update you next week after I've passed
  17. yup, endangered species you guys how is that? Trousers were clean enough and I didn't get ripped off too much (plus coffee incl - not bad at all) unless you want to refund me that is
  18. got fed up with this harsh real world having no understanding in my passions and interests..so I googled something random on CS courses and came across this and now I'm here to stay (I hope so anyway) The more I read, the more amazed I am about how 'colourful' the arb people community really is This forum must be relatively old or some people really do spend most of their time posting on here
  19. must have some good muscles then..
