  1. Change of dates as friend who owns the vitara is working. It is now 30th October. Anyone interested?
  2. I'm normally a rock and heavy metal man but occasionally i listen to a bit of hip hop, dance and rap just to break it up. 3. I did wonder if it was borderline as i posted it
  4. Not sure. He was a shortish bald chap.
  5. Anywhere from 40 to 350 bird days. The 40 bird days are the walk-up days for the beaters.
  6. They came last year as we are one of the few commercial shoots which are improving in the south west. Sadly not but there is going to be a picture of the guns and another group photo of the beaters. Here is a picture of all of the beaters and pickers up on the last day of the season last year. The team is about the same size this season although we have lost and gained a couple of beaters and dogs.
  7. When the pictures are up i shall put the link up of a day we had a photographer from the shooting times out on Crichel Estate Shoot. Everyone knew that my transportation had failed but they didn't expect me to cycle 8 miles in under 50 minutes then crack on with the first drive.
  8. BFG All terrains on our 10 plate ranger, Discoverer Cooper STT on the L200 and on the 11 plate ranger Insa Turbo Special Tracks. The 11 plate ranger is the Rights of Way one.
  9. My dad and i have 69 days of beating this season. Had out first day on 26th September and the first pheasant the week after. The dogs are going to be earning their keep this season.
  10. We've taken him past a Pheasant pen with 2000 pheasants and he knew they were there but didn't want to chase them which is a good sign (of sorts) and we took him to a local clay shoot and had him within 100 metres of gunshots before we had to stop. We shall try him at 75 metres in a month or two then keep getting progressively closer until we are next to the gun but that wont be until he is 10 months minimum. Our 5 years olds we're on their first day at 9 months. It was a bit tentative to say the least but it was a mini driven with only a few birds milling around as opposed to 1500 birds milling around the front of a drive.
  11. Floyd will potentially be working the final week of the season (less birds for him to go mad about), Bramble will hopefully be out mid December or sooner, Bracken is out already and Charlie might be out on the smaller farm shoots as we can leave him in the back if he is pooped after two drives.
  12. According to Tetley... the best way to make a cup of tea is to agitate the bag! So every morning I slap the wife on the arse and say "two sugars fatty!"
  13. A pic of our very handsome and improving (in health) boy Bramble. He is on the mend after having a very bad bout of Pneumonia. We almost lost him as his temp was 105F (about 41C) and his breathing was laboured yet shallow. He spent a week in the vets on IV Fluid and AB. He is now eating like a horse and getting stronger each day. And the last pic is of son (Floyd now 6 months), father (Bramble) and Brambles Great Grandad Charlie.
  14. Rather happy at the way this picture came out. It is one of the monoliths on our flagship site.
  15. Anyone interested in going as need a couple of extra vehicles just incase the two (ours and a friends) get stuck.
  16. We have a DR mower. We've got the 13hp version with a brush deck and a lawn deck. We made a big mistake with the lawn deck as it doesn't like working on odd slopes and it goes through belts like i go through beer. The brush deck just had a new blade after 18 months of hard use and it is coming up for a new skid all round.
  17. My boss nearly jumped out of the van i've been driving this week as this started playing at 9am. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4m2q5Fw8gwI&NR=1]Audioslave - Revelations - YouTube[/ame]
  18. Spent the afternoon doing a big clearance job on a pair of very overgrown footpaths. Our normal remit is to clear the bare minimum but as i had the whole afternoon to do both of them i decided to clear it back a metre each side of the desire lines. The first lot of pictures are the befores the second set are the afters. I got through 3 litres of 2 stroke and only 1 spool of 3mm Stihl Nylon cord.
  19. Just remember not to slam the freezer door:lol:
  20. Yep. I was using it yesterday going through 6 foot high nettles and 3 foot high brambles and it didnt struggle half as much as it did before.
  21. Greased all the points which needed greasing. I did it whilst the machine was at full throttle and with the blades running to get the grease working instantly. Not a squeak, rattle or vibration from it today. Although the bailer twine looks bad it was free moving around the shaft but was still removed. There is very slight play (about 1/8th of an inch) in the shaft but thats it.
  22. Found a nice band. Very much like Evanesence with a Demi Lovato look-a-like as a lead singer. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_gh3Svsiis]Valora - I Waited For You - YouTube[/ame] And an anti-bullying video by Rise Against [ame] [/ame]
  23. I recognised it straight away as we have a very ill Sycamore (soon to reduced by 10%) with Honey fungus on one side and Dead mans fingers chewing through the dysfunctional roots.
  24. Dead man's Fingers (Xylaria polymorpha)
