  1. You’ll need a large loader with a decent hp engine (read: expensive model with all the emissions bollocks) to do that. I’d buy a loader to suit what you want to lift, and then spend what you would have spent on the expensive Avant flail on a secondhand compact tractor and flail. Much more efficient being pto drive. I don’t run any attachments save a grab and sweeper on my loader.
  2. How long before they come for Neil Oliver, I wonder? This whole thing is daft. Women are attracted to high status men, and Brand in his prime was a perfect example. Now that his name has been dragged through the mud by his stance on COVID, he's not so attractive and a few have decided that actually they never really liked him. Or been tempted by the chance of a payout, whether a bung from an as yet unknown third party or damages as part of a 'me too' class action.
  3. I'd like to get one to keep the processor (Jappa 355+) cleaner. I'm also thinking it would be great for the bandsaw mill, so wanting single phase. The Jappa model looks a bit weedy. The Rabauld Xylair looks much more manly with heavier construction and double the KW. Does anyone have experience of using a sawdust extractor on a chainsaw processor? Is it worth the effort?
  4. Going to rescue some from the firewood pile. If it looks OK inside what thickness slabs should I do? Approx 24" diameter. Thinking 3"? To sell on once seasoned.
  5. M16 studding resin fixed to the bottom, stuck the pillar back on and bricked up. Then drilled a 30mm hole at the back three courses up and poured in an SBR enriched slurry with flow additive. With agitation from some m6 studding that filled the whole thing three courses up. It was loose rubble fill so the original plan of resin both sides wasn't an option. So next time it's hit it will break there!
  6. Wow, 3t rating?? You’re still lifting much more weight than you need its good for you tho, will keep you fit 🤣
  7. Yesterday I installed some posts I’d milled for the local church.
  8. This afternoon I milled 500 inch square ash stakes for a local wicker coffin manufacturer. LogBullet making life seriously easy. The DRO also proved useful for such a repetitive job.
  9. What concentration of tfr? Caustic? What brand?

    DHL

The local Hermes bloke is useless too. Considered the recycling bin a suitable 'safe place' ffs. Or just leaves the parcel on the front step without even knocking.
  12. There’s a trailer mounted unit for sale on Facebook currently
  13. I use the chains professionally up to 36” and have no complaints at all for the money. Can’t comment on the bars as never tried them.
  14. Well thanks to the FETF grant, I joined the LogBullet club yesterday.
  15. Amazing the effort these little machine save. I used to be so skeptical but I wouldn’t be without it now, even though I have a Multione too.
  16. Bolam’s sister still cries herself to sleep.
  17. Yup, it'll be 20 quid a metre at least for such a short run. I'd want 4k and even then I still wouldn't want the job. Hate fencing, deer fencing even more so.
  18. Glad its finding work. Are you replacing the Avant with something larger?
  19. Export market?
  20. Not really, none need such a high horsepower engine. The issues, as usual, are down to the emmissions regs and arbitary cutoffs for machines often based upon weight classes, not what the machine actually does.
  21. Yeah, it's not like the diesel's weren't water cooled! What matters is how quickly manufacturers are honest and drop this dog from their lineup.
  22. Since switching the digger to steel tracks it's begun to trash the trailer ramp. It's a tight fit and there's give in the rubber tracks, but the steels put all the weigh of the digger onto the edges of the ramp. So it's either buy a wider trailer (and wait ages and pay silly money for new or deal with idiots thinking they have a secondhand trailer made of solid gold). Or it's a quick bodge job. With a bit of jiggery pokery I got the side angles easily. The 'meet the ground' angle was a bit trickier but by marking it, placing the mill where I wanted it to finish and zeroing the DRO, I was able to wind the toe jack up to make it approximately work, leaving a bit more length for the blade to lead in. Good enough anyhow. I'll see how this works. I've owned the trailer from new, it's a great trailer, and it's not really any hassle to use these extra supports when loading the big digger- just chuck them in underneath before you close the ramp. It's also a bit more pleasant at the break-over, as there's no steel on steel any more.
  23. Whever you do, leave a small amount of play. Tapered bearings should never be even 'nipped' tight.
  24. People who want to allow all migration because 'open borders dahling' and suggest that we build yet more high density flats to accomodate this disgust me. They invariably live somewhere much nicer, and never cheek by jowel with the recent arrivals. Champagne socialists. Fk em. This country needs a government that will prioritise quality of life above the flawed metric of GDP. 'We' (as in the county / policy setters) only want all these immigrants to keep the price of labour low so they can keep buying cheap goods and services and pretending they are rich because their house is now Xhundred thousand.
