  1. Yes hope they are on the mend indeed! Must be a horrible thing to see your wee one's like that. Thanks for the reminder to check things out quickly Lorry
  2. On that note my wish would be a never ending supply of fossil fuels! Seriously one wish would be a hard one, first and foremost would be that my daughter lives a long and happy fulfilled life. If it were just me I'd love to live a self sufficient life in the mountains and spend every day in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and felling tree's to make the coolest log cabin ever!
  3. Nice! My uncle had one of them, same colour too. Any plans to replace it with another bike?
  4. Googled looking for some information on some tree's I was working on and this site came up. Having spent ages reading and learning more and more I have found an absolute wealth of knowledge on here from reading through old posts and all in all it seems to be a great thing for the industry. It's a shame other industries don't have such a great meeting place for professionals to talk to one another and develop more knowledge they can use in their day to day work whilst having a bit of a laugh at the same time.
  5. Me too Lorry I'd listen to all my dad's tales of lc's etc and that's what got me into them:001_smile: They're going for silly money now though even just compaired to 10 years ago so I don't think I'd be able to get another
  6. Yeah I liked mk1's but somehow never managed to get one. Now that we're settled in our house and the wife's got a nice estate and I've got my work van I wouldn't mind getting onto two wheels again, but more in the form of a trials bike! A montesa or something... plenty of landowners I get along with round where we live so that could be cool for unwinding a bit and reliving my dougie lampkin dreams:laugh1:
  7. Here's another one I found, my slabside'd Gsxr750, a boyhood dream I had which lived up to it's reputation...
  8. Before getting married I was seriously into bikes and besides a couple of mk2 golfs and a mini that's all I had for years. I was especially into 2 strokes, going through tzr's couple of lc's etc and this one here(just found the pic and brought back memories.....) I sold this one to fund a suite when I moved in with the then girlfriend:001_rolleyes: A guy I knew in the RD club made the expansion chambers, I spent alot on tuning and little bits and pieces for it. The sound was amazing amd the smell of two stroke oil was what I lived for. The allure of a woman eh:001_rolleyes:
  9. Happy new year guys, all the best for 2011! Inlaws away home, mrs in bed, baby sleeping, I'm sat listening to music and having a whiskey. Slainte:001_smile:
  10. This is Ben my lab ready to charge lol:biggrin:
  11. Tom's voice from father Ted I did in my head lol
  12. Try and put more money aside through the summer when I'm earning more to help in winter. Don't get so wound up at work and run around trying to do everything that I feel has not been done right by others i.e tell them it's not done right and get them to do it properly. And then TRUST that they can do it properly. I'm still learning the ropes of being in charge of a team:blushing:
  13. From leaving school I got a job as a greenkeeper, went through college and stayed there for 9 years working up to deputy head greenkeeper, after that I left to work on grounds maintenance/landscaping contracts as a team leader of between 3-5 guys(5 in summer) been here nearly 4 years. Work weekends at a botanical gardens/estate where I do all the tree work, chipping for pathways, coppicing, fencing etc and routine maintenance throughout summer months. I have always loved being around tree's from an early age and would love to work full time doing tree work but there's not much around here so for the moment i'm playing it safe and staying put in my current job(wife and wee baby to look after). I'm getting some valuable experience at weekends and enjoying what I do while I earn and learn so it's all good:)
  14. Great tractors guys! I use an old Fordson Dexta at the gardens/estate I do work for, I'll be up there on thurs to repair some deer fencing so will take a pic of her then:001_smile:
  15. You can rescue it by cutting down the main trunk to 3-5ft , and you should get two or three new growth points emerging directly from the stem at this point. If you leave these, they will all grow to produce a multi-headed effect, you could remove a couple of these buds as they develop to try and produce a single headed tree again if so desired though I think multi headed looks ok. The best time to do this is april/may, whenever the weather starts to improve and temperatures start to rise, but leave well alone until you do or don’t see any signs of life – this could be as late as late may.
  16. A nice new watch and a book. my wee 15 month old girl has an abundance of toys including a little drum kit and guitar lol so she is playing with all those and my mrs is trying to get some kip on the sofa before we get ready for the inlaws coming over. Merry christmas folks:biggrin:
  17. I've currently got a thumping knuckle from hawthorn, bloody horrid stuff. Usually pops out a few days later with me and it's fine after that, does get quite sore though!
  18. Finished my mon-fri work yesterday(2 days early as I have holidays still not taken) but was at work at the botanical garden/estate that I do weekend work at today and tomorrow for a few hours then some last minute xmas shopping followed by some chill out time with the little un and a few drinks with the mrs:biggrin:
  19. I have just started making a point of eating breakfast, it's making a difference I reckon and getting me eating at better times, instead of not eating through the day and being starving at night and eating at completely the wrong time. Would post up a pic but not much exciting about porridge!
  20. Haha that's the first thing we said when we got the blower the other week! the end quarter's gonna have to come off....
  21. I've always found 'Phallus impudicus' quite an amusing one for the stinkhorn....
  22. Agree'd, that's the method we use with ours if sticking a bit(usually when wet/green or packed too tight)
