    The forum is really good because although there is a large proportion of the arb world on here, it is also a tiny proportion of the whole world, so you get a "test tube" view of it all. I find it remarkably interesting. Thats democracy, it would be damn boring if we all agreed on everything.

    I don't have children. But I'm damn sure I was at school more recently than you lot. So that's where my opinions come from. It's all turned very silly on here. I'll just say I like teachers that are good, passionate teachers. I don't think they should be punched. I think corporal punishment in schools is stupid. I think that people should leave school with more options than university or the doll. I think schools should promote FE more. And I think that lessons should be single sex.

    Fair play. People who have worked in the "real world" make better teachers. However, I saw (in my time at school) a fair few teachers who went school-uni-school. I think this is a very bad system. They had no life experience to relate what they were teaching too (this was however better than the few who had been on a "gap yah" and related EVERYTHING back to "that time I was saving orphans in"). The best teacher I had a school was a Lt. Colonel Ayres, he had been a soldier, canoe instructor, farmer and finally a teacher. Everyone (even the "bad" lot) listened to what he said. Nope, payed plenty of attention at school, sorry

    So teachers and policemen are the same? Who knew teachers have to wear stab vests, I suppose its such a dangerous job (Just so everyone is clear, I think the police have a very hard job, and the teachers a very easy one:001_smile:). I have never punched a teacher, and condone violence of any sort on that level. The very fact this lad is wearing a H4H bad says to me he is the sort who probably wouldn't dream of punching a teacher. My issue was with your whole "teachers deserve more respect than everyone else" (how it came across) statement. They don't. Violence as a way of expressing opinion is like raising your voice, you've already lost the arguement when you think about it.

    Why should teachers hold a magical level above all us punchable mortals? Telling other people what charities they can support is rubbish.
