  1. I would have liked some pop planking for reflooring my trailer (3.5t tipper) but couldn't get any. Ended up using 35mm decking turned upsidedown, which is OK so far, but I definitely would have given poplar a go as it doesn't seem too heavy compared to softwood. This was to replace phenolic ply which didn't last at all well. I don't know what it costs to get it planked but would make an interesting experiment?
  2. There is green waste management at Morton farm just along from Countrywide on old Gloucester road. Gates are open during normal weekday hours I believe but worth checking first.
  3. Are your scouts Teflon, or just coated in the product they use on modern frying pans (which wears away with prolonged use)? He he
  4. Your local town council might be worth an ask?
  5. No problem. Hope I can help in the future. ^^ always interested to see pics.
  6. Wych elm is wych though? I got some wych elm recently wych looked very similar to what you have there.
  7. Hi mate I have a small (14t) beam splitter which has linkage for a small tractor and also a cradle for a mini digger. I find it easier to process bigger lumps using the digger as I tip the splitter upsidedown and just process on the floor. There is someone local to me who uses a screw cone for biomass timber and from seeing it working the finished timber looks very stringy/gnawed and untidy. Personally that's enough to put me off. I use firewood for my home (1 open fire and 1 stove) plus 1 other household in the family.
  8. Hi I wouldn't mind the timber for personal use. I have an 8 wheel grab so should be able to shift it reasonably quickly if accessible. I'll pm you.
  9. Sorry to keep you waiting Sean the farmers' wife dropped her mobile in the slurry pit and is getting a new number. I'll pass it on either this eve on tomorrow.
  10. Just trying to help out my landlord. If you need a free tip for your chip in the above area he would like it for some of his gateways. The dairy cows prefer it for walking on:001_smile: Drop me a line if it helps you at all, thanks. Minty.
  11. I was not aware of this, can you give any other details. Sounds like someone in the public sector has found out another way of getting someone else to carry him.
  12. Hi I'm making a delivery to a similar size installation on Wednesday, I can find out the make and a few other details if youre interested. They take chip size G30 and in the past dont seem to have had too much trouble with it.
  13. I dont use it myself but I do haulage work for a landscaper who says he's had about 35 to 40 grands worth of work off it in the last 18 months. As I say it wont suit everyone. Just seeing if many others out there are using it.
  14. Its a website where tradesmen can find work advertised. It costs money to join. May not be for everyone just thaught I'd mention it.
  15. Anyone on rated people? Someone in Bath looking to take down their birch tree.
  16. What about the Mercedis G wagen. Diff locks on both axels and I think they are imported into this country still. Dont know if they are available new though.
  17. If you cant make your mind up just go jap. Problem solved.
  18. Yes I agree they sound great and as with any modern diesel, you can get it chipped.
  19. If you can afford the extra go for the next generation TDV6. I know a few people who had trouble with the TD5. The later model does everything way better than the old, might even give the japs a run for their money. Just my opinion. Not ment to offend.
  20. Hi Josy123 as far as i know you cant use an ordinary shredder for chip type biomass as you get too many long shards. If its green waste like the power stations use then i think its ok. You'd need to be producing artic loads of it to make it pay though.
  21. Youre never going to beat a Hilux. There's a nice red one floating on a piece of ice near the North Pole going cheap so I hear. (unless Clarkson's got it that is)
  22. Go on LOOK! You know you want to.
  23. Love old Matadors just cant find a good excuse to own one. Can you imagine what the missus would say if that lot turned up outside your house on 2 low loaders? Just dreamin. Conrad
  24. Are you thinking of advertising your services Mick or simply relying on being well known already on here? Are there enough tree men around you to keep you going 5 days a week? Conrad.
