  1. Shame. sounds like an ideal situation for a touch of veteranisation. Are you at liberty to divulge who the client is? Interesting to see if they have used the techniques at other sites. .
  2. Very Nice and Very Jealous. Though I'd get ya Ma to get the professionals in to do the conifer reduction next time .
  3. You're very welcome The more posting of our little Fungi friends, the beter all our Id skills get. What are the targets and site like? .

  7. .......when you hit that perfect 60 foot anchor with the Big shot, and do a little jig and feel all childlike and bang on about it till the guys give you that look Thanks to Pete and Bob for the advice on the best 'luxury' kit buy I've purchased in ages.
  8. Where is that little gem of info from Logo? Found another seven trees (all in one avenue) with it on today. Four of which had friuting bodies @ height
  9. What an amazing Tree. Worth trying to give the Old girl a helping hand Imo. Props rather than pruning, is the way to go. I know the farmer probably wouldn't give two hoots about it, but if I was local I would get the locals actively involved and contact the ATF, they would love it. http://www.woodland-trust.org.uk/ancient-tree-forum/ These Trees are definitively our heritage, and were quite rightly venerated and protected by our forebears. This once fine nation was literally built using the Mighty Oak. Towns were errected and Wars were fought on the broad back of this natural phenomina, and for this very reason they are deserving of our remembrance. Slushy Rant over .........now where's me 084, I need to go fell me some timber
  10. This is it's natural and percieved habitat, how dare the little bleeder change tact and sprout out somewhere different from where it's expected
  11. Beefsteak fungus All my references say F. hepatica is considered to be a root and lower stem Brown cubical Rotter. Yet here it is on two different Oak trunks at height. What's going on here then? Mycologists not very accurate with their data recording? State of the climate and general poor woodland health conditions allowing the host Trees to supply a new environment for the fungi to exploit? The later might be a tad more interesting and give this thread a few pages, but probably the former. Opinions anyone ............and no, I'm not going to cut them down and sell to the highest bidder

  22. That is a serious quantity of Meripilus giganteus. What are the targets? Are there any fruiting bodies further out on the root plate away from the trunk? Great Photos btw .
  23. The comment, myself and team very much appreciate. The debate however, which is wheighed heavily toward your righteous and learned view will i hope long continue, much like my/our enthusiasm to apply our skills widely over the entire spectrum of Arboricultural works. Including one or two live wood fractured and coronetted retrenchments and/or Monoliths, location dependent ofcourse.
