Hello Darran

Looks a bit more like Bjerkendera adusta (the smokey bracket) to me

Regards

Hello James

Are you working for the FC ?

I do have some images of Massaria branches still within the canopy on infected Planes, (taken from the ground) but as such, the contrast isn't that good as the sky affects the image in most cases.

If you let me have your e-mail address I can send them through for you to have a look at.

Thanks for getting in touch.

I have seen that video, I believe someone put a link up here to it a while back.

Unfortunately I missed the oportunity to see Mr Stamets talk when he was last here in the UK

Perhaps next time.

Do you get access to a wide variety of tree species to study the interaction of decay?

Hello Sal

interesting situation/dilemma

I'm most certainly not a bee expert, but would think that it may be best to leave the hive section (although i like the idea of trying to resurrect it) so that they relocate naturally. (depending on alternative local suitable habitat)

I think you should put it up on the Forum, would make an interesting thread (or add it to one of the other existing bee threads)

May be worth PM'ing RDB logs as he has experience in moving bees

regards

Hi Nick

Not something I'm aware of top of my head and I'm now away from the office and resources for a couple of weeks.

Had you come across this one by Kenton ?

http://www.treeconomics.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/TPBEII-Paper-Rogers-01.pdf

Looks to have a useful reference list at the end that may offer some interesting avenues to explore. Have a great Christmas with the tribe. Speak soon, David

Yes, yes, very good indeed.

Where did you come across it?

Went to see Edward Parker do a presentation on photographing trees at the RHS Lindley Library last month.

Fine evening, learnt a lot

  11. "Tēnā koe" to you Phillip, and "whakatau" to Arbtalk.

May you find all that you "Kimi"

"nohopuku" to you brother Arb :001_smile:

  12. Cheers Adam, it was a really basic p-shop trial which ran out after 30 days.

Just b&w them, then used an eraser in the software to rub the colour back on the part of the image that I wanted to stand out.

Not sure if there are any additional shots in these threads or not.

    Glad you liked them

  13. Cheers Stevie.

It's a fraction of the photos I've gathered over the last few years, putting them here on the forum is mainly for sharing, but also a way for me to revisit them and keep them fresh in my mind.

Try and check out Marios (mdvaden) web page, he's got some real crackers.

    All the best

    David

  14. Good numbers,

    Look forward to the photies.

    Phillip really enjoyed the day.

Wants me to buy a GRCS to get him up for his one a week !!!!!!!!

  15. Guild is alive and well and growing momentum in the wings.

The time to emerge is not quite there yet as other similar bodies are in the limelight.

Yorkshireman (Iain) is really the guy you need to talk to on the specifics as he's been spending by far the most time on it during developement.

I'm more of an interested facilitator.

Give Iain a shout, either by Pm or on thread.

You've been quite of late, new arrival keeping you busy?

    David

  16. Hello AS, only just seen this.

Whats your real name, where are you working?

Ps is as you probably already know, predominantly a parasite, but can be saprophytic also. So it depends on structural condition of your target.

Have read & seen, that it's a white rot, and more often than not is in attendance with a n other fungal sp.

I've no direct experience with it on Poplus so couldn't realy comment on it's strategies around that species.

    regards

    David

  17. Hello bareroots.

I am not an expert on edibility of Fungi species

That is a completely different discipline, as you're probably aware.

I'm happy to guide you to the following respected resource,

that suggests that you can eat the Safron Bolete.

Rogers Mushrooms - Leccinum crocipodium Mushroom

    regards

    David

  18. Hello Drew,

it sounds like a very interesting proposal.

I really appreciate you passing on the info.

Will run it through a couple of people hear in London & will get back to you.

Out of interest, is Don German or just based there?

Was he running any treatment programs out in Singapore?

many thanks & have a great trip on the next expedition

  19. Hello Jonathan,

welcome to the dark side

  20. Hello Jules,

I don't recall having seen a Piptoporus betulinus (Birch polypore) on anything other than Birch.

I have seen the Oak Polypore on Oak (Piptoporus quercinus)

    Perhaps that's what you remembered?

    regards

    David

  21. Hello Lawrence, welcome on board.

Gonna catch Marcus' Merip seminar on the 20th are you going?

    Not many places left..

Not to be missed if you can make it.

Great bunch of speakers, Londsdale, JFL, Andrew Cowan & Brian Greig

    Speak soon David.

  22. Hello Marco,

I'll keep an eye out for it & will pass it around for sure, thanks for the heads up.

    David

  23. Hello Owen,

appreciate you taking time to comment on the Pholiota directory post.

If you feel your shots would add some context to the gallery, then I'd be more than happy to add them.

If you find time you could post them up on the Fungi directory thread, or e-mail me on the address in my signature.

    Thanks

    David

  24. Hello Tristan,

I was very fortunate to be at the Linean society a couple of weeks ago, where Neville Fay was hosting one of his seminars, this one was on fungi & Soil.

Alan Rayner was one of a great list of Speakers.

Not aware of anything specific coming up, but I would advise keeping tabs on BMC

    British Mycological Society

    amongst others.

Try also to get on some Ancient Tree Forum walks, networking with the experts like Londsdale, Green & Fay is what I've found to be the key to getting a better visual understanding.

I'll keep you in mind if I hear of anything of interest, and give you a shout.

    Where are you based?

    Regards

    David
