If you find a nest mid job you can give Natural England a ring and they give you very good advice speicies dependant, the advice weve normally recieved is to move nest no further than 5 metres ,by phonig and getting advice at least you can show your not setting out to deliberatly destroy a nest. Also on there website is a guide to nesting times etc
  5. Its a valliant tractor from Kilworth its got artic steering so is ideal in thinnings, and its fully road legal. Had an old carraro before this which was brilliant but had to let it go as it had hydraulic pipes insde the cab.

  12. Todays job - winching over some sycamore stems on the side of the M6 under a live 11Kv line near Corley services
  13. We had a problem with Haix with the metal plate in the sole wearing through the front of the boot - they did replace them as they were only 6 months old. Having said that all the other pairs we have are fine

I think if we are really honest most of us have been there or are there, my stress came to the front last year when i collapsed at work - the docs thought it was a stroke but luckily (!) it was viral meningitis whose main cause is stress. Dont ignore or take it lightly it can creep up on you regardless of age etc. Tackle it ,admit you need a hand have a break or a day off and do something you enjoy that does not involve work, we all went into this industry because we love it stop and remember how to enjoy it again!

Hi just thought id pass on this info in case your offered work by West Coast on the CN contract as a few contractors i know have walked off contract this week owing to the following clauses in a new contract, they have been told to do - Install West Coasts tracker systems on their own vehicles at their own expence and maintain Have West Coasts livery put on their own vehicles ( only can be done in Mould Sth Wales) Have no vehicles or chippers older than 5 years old on contract £1000 fine if shutdown is cancelled due to contractors fault plus payments to other contractors effected Plus another 35 plus clauses What do you think i know times are hard but this really does seem to be very harse and severe

  17. Hi i have 600m3 (approx) of birch thinnings to do on Sherwood Heath Ollerton anyone interested on subcontractor basis - if so how much per cube for felling/ snedding / stacking- we will do the extraction
  18. The money on firewood is far to tight to be counting - work out your cubic area and charge accordingly
