I had a 4 month headache with this, Hmrc are far from helpful if not obstructive. We wanted to go Gross contractor to avoid having 20% deducted which would kill the job. It was huge ball ache as we had mucked up on under paying a tax bill by £12 once so where deemed as in trustworthy by Hmrc If your ever likely to work for a construction company I'd advise you to sort out your cis status now instead of having to deal with hmrcs disgusting level of incompetence standing in the way of receiving your pennies.

One of our local councils uses a consultant as a TO who runs his owns tree gang too, Seems like a great way to quash local firms who put in tca/tpo applications and push your own.

It's a free country humans should have the right to buy a saw and cut there leg of if they please. Squillions of people use saws in a none commercial setting who haven't been trained and do so quite safely too.

It's all about cover, having made a claim I know I'll be sticking to trust. Crap cover is as good as no cover and its reassuring to know your well covered when doing a Friday arvo let's get home quick stunt fell. I've now got public liability, employers, tools, separate indemnity, and hired in plant I have no clue what it costs I don't like to think about it
