I cant say i have used any cheap saw's, though my old man has a £100 homelite that seems to keep going year on year. My only concern with cheaper saws is the vibration levels, they just shake you to the bone.. that's how i see it anyway. shaun.
  3. Nice to hear.. i'm pleased for you!! shaun.

Reg, i'm not joking no it really is happening! Rainow is on the up!!! MR dickie mint is moving to kettleshulme i believe.. that good to here about the chiansaw's as soo many people say the fuel in america/canada is different! and that saws need re-tuning. I will let you know if the 'new' indian is any good!! see if it's worth coming back for?? thanks shaun..

HI reg hows canada going? looking at the video bloody good!! Rainow aint changed much! the rising sun is becoming a indian take-away!! what i wanted to ask is did you take your chainsaws over to canada? if so did you have to re-tune them! i have a north american spec husky 575xp, what i want to know is if it needs re-tunning? if you needed to re-tune your's then i guess i will need to re-tune mine? thanks shaun.

  6. eh up spud long time no see/chat i saw your dad the other day i was asking how your doing?? your at an arbouretum aint you?? if your facebbok i'll come on for a chat!!

  7. HI Rick, if your not going to be using every day all day then something like a stihl 391 would suit you, or the 290. If your looking at somthing more durable then the stihl ms 261 or the husqvarna 346 or 357 might tempt you.. hope this helps.. shaun
  8. HI pete, i agree with arbmark, a ms 260 or a 261 as it is now known would be the answer, put it on a sixteen inch bar as a good all rounder, and 18 inch if need's be. Keep the chain sharp and it would about surpass what you require of it! I thiink this month's forestry journal has a write up about the 261.... hope this helps. Shaun.
  9. Hi... we have a a row of lime trees at college and they have the grease band around them to prevent caterpiller's. the female climbs the tree on to the leaves and let off a pheromone, into the male climbs the tree only to get stuck on the grease band... shaun.
  10. What you want is a really smart husqvarna 575xp i know where there is one going cheap!!! comes with spare piston............
  11. Join the club!!
  12. The rumour going around my college is that husky have put the saw back to change some minor things to out-compete the 'new' stihl. Something to do with engine cc and other odd things.. again this is just rumours!! i would like to know myself!!

there's just something about wrap rounds!! but i bought it off a mate in this country.. it's just that little bit harder to get part's locally.. but it's all worth it.

    Husky 575xp

This is my new saw it's a husqvarna 575xp with a big air filter wraparound handle and duel port muffler! it's running a 24' bar and it's my new love!
  21. I wouldn't of thought so given the fact that 2 stroke's are designed to rev! mixing fuel at 40:1 instead of 50:1 will give a little more protection i run both husky and stihl at 40:1 i think it's better for them as the saws get older. hope this helps.
  22. The scout camp where i do site maintenance has ramourm!! we have been felling the rhodies all weekend, it's not just the rhodies we have being felling but also the birch's as they harbour the dieses, and that's in leek staffordshire.... we were have ing to burn all the rhododendron and birch on site, we were also having to decontaminate all the saws, my clothes boots and quad bike!! it's a rum doo, we have until may till the next FC visit then we will only now how bad the situation is??
  23. My boss used to use one as a 'brash saw' before sticking it all through the chipper! it did what was asked of it. it's a small home owners saw.. hope this helps.
