  1. Do the markings on the tyre indicate it's for an 8 inch rim? Is it solid rubber or inflatable? One of the numbers on the sidewall should be the Ply Rating, is there a maximum load shown anywhere on it?
  2. Excellent, perfect answer. The slightly later models have similar labels, but without identifying which numbers are year, month, and unique serial number. Many thanks, I have meths if that's any help ?
  3. Looked all over, can't see any markings appart from the big white patch on the back of the padded section of the belt. I have no user handbook for the harness, can anyone help me translate the strings of numbers on the makers label? Thanks.
  4. Is anyone able to tell me please ? Is there a date of manufacture code concealed in the details on the white label on the back of the waist belt of a Butterfly or Dragonfly ? Many thanks.
  5. The one I have is red too, but has no guide wheels at the ends. The label finally fell of a few months ago, after about 20 years, it was made by Oregon. I use it for my milling chains. You'd have to hoist the mill up with an engine crane to sharpen the chain on the bar:001_rolleyes:
  6. Was that scientifically tested to destruction or a failed attempt to lift a heavy thing out on site ? Are you getting samples tested to be able to gain certification for the splices you produce ?
  7. Here we go. Successful job of the Patriot ( will whip it later ). Loads easier than the Gecko next to it. Thanks for the pointer.
  8. And just as wooden Neat job, love it. How long did it take ?
  9. I think it's a Yale rope. I'm happy to do it, just need the advice on which technique to use. Recently made a tidy job of Marlow Gecko and apparently this should be easier. The blue core is 8 straight double strands with a thin plastic tracer tape thingy.
  10. Hi, if Rob is a bit pushed for time I can do it for you. Rob trained me and I'm NPTC qualified. PM me if you need more details. Angus.
  11. Could someone recommend the most suitable splice for putting an eye into Patriot. Thanks.
  12. Not so much a stool as a simple table really. My daughter ( guess what her name is ) likes to read in a hammock in the garden. For her 17th birthday she asked for a table to put a drink and her bookmark on. How could I refuse ? The wood is apple, about 10" across, and the saw was my Husky 141 with 12" Cannon bar and 1/4" Picco chain. Anyone else made an uncomfortable stool lately ?
  13. I do quite a bit of this type of stuff with the Environment Agency in the lower bits of Somerset. I keep a special felling wedge just for keeping big cuts from pinching when it's not possible to undercut, it has a 6mm hole through one of the thick corners with a bootlace and big cork on it. They sink quite slowly with no extra flotation so 3 or 4 wine corks is enough to stop you losing it. I also keep a length of tat with a cork on to tie to my felling lever, but the tat has to be longer than the depth of the water. Just means you can lay your tools on the river bed and be confident of getting them when you need them.
  14. Hinge mount on townie sawhorse ??
  15. I'd be even more impressed if he can track it back to the top:001_tt2:
  16. I drive a 110 Hard Top on BFG Muds. The vehicle itself is rarely fully laden but I tow quite a bit with it (weight and distance). The front has a winch on. I keep to 30psi front and 60psi rear. The original tyres still have 4mm of tread after 79000 miles.
  17. If anyone asks 'Are you a man or a mouse?' reply with 'Squeek squeek, pass the cheese'.
  18. I bought a pair of mesh goggles at the Arb Show last year, really like them, they may take a bit of getting used to, but worth it. Can't remember which stand I got them from but didn't see any this year.
  19. I have a swb delica which is our holiday bus as well as multi purpose shifter/hauler. We get almost 23mpg cruising gently on the motorway. Haven't dared to work out the around town and short trip consumption. Have BFG Longtrail tyres on it which are terrific in snow. Payload isn't great . It may look tall and narrow but feels fine, even with kayaks on top in a crosswind. The interior is so versatile and durable. If someone stole mine tonight I'd buy another before breakfast.
  20. Great . If I ever get half as good with a saw as he is on his spoons I'll be right chuffed:thumbup:
  21. Never knew of Treesource before, and unfortunately they don't seem to have a copy, but there's a load of other stuff for my Christmas list.
  22. Wow, looks very useful. Is the whole document available in book form anywhere? It's the sort of thing I'd keep in the cab and just read a bit each day for a couple of weeks. Ps. My favourite bit so far is on page 12
  23. Thanks for the heads up. Sorry to hear about it happening again. Was this while out on site or outside working hours? Angus.
  24. Very sad news. Would you be the Matt Arnold that I went to Owermoigne Primary School with, lived near Moreton where Laurence of Arabia is buried ? Your name brought his tragic bike crash back to mind. Sorry for your loss.
